Infection Thoughts & Feedback

Hello Waypoint! Man it’s been awhile hasn’t it? A whole week since you all got to see little 'ole me. But I’m back from another temporary ban and I’m going to start my return with a thread discussing Halo 5’s Infection. I know there’s probably been a lot of treads on this already, but well I haven’t been here for a week.

Anyway, I love Halo 5’s Infection and the issues I have are few, but some are major and annoying. Let us begin the discussion:

  • The Infected Energy Sword kind of sucks. It’s lung range is crap when compared to the shotgun and when you do lung, it sometimes won’t track the enemy! - The shotgun has way too much range to be considered a shotgun. Seriously this thing isn’t Felwinter’s Lie or whatever that gun was from Destiny - The survivors have too many locations where ten people can camp one entrance the whole game and win. I’m not saying spots that you can camp are bad, but when the entire team of survivors only needs to cover one location against two zombies, it becomes a pain and is not fun for both sides IMO. Small locations like that one cage area next to the CE pistol’s spawn on Plaza are fine. That one place overlooking the lake on Backwoods? No so much. If there’s going to be a large location, make it so three sides must be covered. - Weapon placement is a great addition, but some of the weapons are pushing it. The SAW, SPNKR, and a few other weapons have no place in Infection. - Zombies are too slow compared to humans. Give zombies access to ground pound and maybe even give Alpha zombies two thrusts before the cooldown. - Bottom Mid on RIPtide has got to go or be changed. Remove one of the crates or reduce the distance bewteen the crates and the cage.
If there is an official Infection feedback thread, then please merge this post with it.
  1. Personally I think the energy sword is fine, in fact I have more friends who want it removed because its a bit annoying for them, well not a bit but very.
  2. I agree it is a very long range weapon
  3. yes i agree, the area on power station 434 is horrible
  4. the saw and SPNKR aren’t really that good either, the saw is so inaccurate that only by using 1/4 of your ammo do you kill them, (most of the time) and the SPNKR is very bad at the close range combat infection usually brings because of the explosion that can kill you.
  5. zombies are just fine to me, i think they are balanced well, you have to think your way past the survivors
  6. you can lunge and hit people from the bars on the back, and that spot is fine, the infected can push the crates, or just swarm.

personally ive never had any problems besides the actual players im playing with

Also back from a ban… I really like Infection so far. It does seem like the sword is less accurate. The Gauss Cannon in Power Installation 484 needs to have a lower amount of ammo. Really, if anything… All weapons need lower ammo, but respawn later on, so people go out to scavenge for ammo more. This is the best Infection so far!

Changes I would like to see:

  • Less ammo, but respawn later on, forcing survivors to scavenge - Set more crates to Phased to decrease camping spots. - On Nerve Center, on the lower level near the grav lift, add crates so that you can’t sit in the corner next to the grav lift. Not complaining, just it may bring back memories to Reach Infection on Sword Base in the vent. It is “Memories of Reach” afterall  - Infected have longer duration of Stabilize and some balancing with thrust like a very minor change to thruster recharge. Maybe wait time is 75%

I am okay with the weapons. But i would like to see more forged maps. I did a research last night and found a lot more wonderful infection maps on forgehub.

I disagree on every point you made exept MAYBE the last point.

  • Remember the infected are ment to lose 99% of the time in a 1v1 against a human if he is aware of your location.
  • The shotgun should out range the sword because 1 its a gun and 2 if it doesn’t then to many double kills start occurring which is very, very frustrating.
  • Camping spots are fine except maybe the riptide one, not because its impossible to breach but because its to powerful compared to the other spots causing everyone to go there (except me, im a run n’ gun infection player).
  • Weapons are fine because of the limited ammo they come with (exept the guass cannon, remove that thing)
  • Zombies have thrusters instead which works great. plus double kill issue againInfection is perfect as it is
