I do like the Infection game type, I wouldn’t go so far to say its worth the 7 month wait, because we should have had it at release, but its good nonetheless, but what I have a problem with, is how it contributes towards competitive stats. My K/D isn’t good at all, its only 1.1 in arena, and 1.3 on my profile, (I think thats across all game types) but Infection has completely messed up my percentage wins, they’ve dropped down to 49%, from 53%, my K/D (across all game types) has dropped from 1.360, down to 1.321, this is all because of Infection contributing to my competitive stats.
I have only been a Halo player for 4 years, but I know that Infection isn’t a competitive gametype, its social, ergo it shouldn’t contribute towards overall kills, deaths and percentage wins, that what competitive game types are for, and they have negatively affected statistics which affect things like being accepted by Spartan Companies, (very possibly matchmaking - it may well be used as a scaling tool) and other various aspects of the game.
My message here is simple: Infection should have no contribution to a single players statistics, especially those that reflect their level of skill
If anyone in the comments is gonna say “git gud scrub”, just don’t bother, its hardy relevant to this thread and a rather arbitrary comment at best
I’m curious to see who agrees with me, and I welcome the opinions of those that don’t.
In a bit
I must agree, getting taken down by people with a shotgun so many times in one round is devastating to my KDA. Which has placed it in the negative.
personally i dont care too much about my K/D, but seeing as how my K/D used to be 1.2 in arena, and now is .8 because i’ve been playing infection. i can see how this could make some people angry. i think infection should stay the way it is, “good enough” players can raise their K/D by playing infection if they’re good enough to be last man standing and hold out for a while, that is a lot of kills for no deaths, but same can be said for infected that don’t die (somehow). i think it should stay in, although being an infected and having to die a lot may jack up you K/D it doesnt really matter that much. im not a tryhard though so i may not understand

I don’t care much either, but it’s nice to have a number above 1.
Definitely think it should not go towards win percentage as it’s a ffa team based game
I played it a good bit this weekend, had a blast. Sure, the 5 game losing streak sitting on my record makes my eye twitch (especially when I finished between 2nd and 5th every time), but there’s something just fun about infecting a friend by laying a trap then relentlessly teabagging him. Thank the Forerunners for party chat.

I do see your point, I wouldn’t describe myself as a tryhard, I’m not good enough to call myself that anyway lol, but having a K/D that has just decreased exponentially, is pretty irritating
Git Gud
You’re right
It just doesn’t make sense to have stats from social games affect your arena stats as a whole. And in other social playlists like social slayer, the fact that those games still affect stats draws in sweaty stat boosters.

A separate set of statistic would be better than not counting them at all, thats a perfectly legitimate, and good, idea tbh
Free yourself of the burden of caring about KD. I let my 7 year old brother play on my profile and life just got a lot better, no more KD but lots of free REQ points.
I agree, but dont take your KD so serious
If you care that much about KD, you probably shouldn’t be playing infection.

Yo man whats up? lol
I’m decent enough so my KD won’t suffer from it, but it’s really not helping on victory % though.
I too feel like there should be separate stats for social games. I think this would help promote social mentality in those gametypes; I can’t count how many times I see Infected players afraid to go first into a choke-point because they don’t want to rack up deaths.
In addition to modes like Infection potentially lowering global K/D ratios, other social game types can raise it. I remember Social Slayer didn’t feel very social after the less stringent SBMM because entire fireteams of Diamond+ players were steamrolling the playlist. Separate K/D stats for social game types would be welcomed.

Until we have separate stats, Social will never become truly Social, with all the Tryhards padding their K/D. Hell, why not just remove Visible Social Stats, period? That way, no one would even be motivated to go full Sweaty.
It counts towards your ARENA PLAYLISTS STATS. Not sure why people keep calling it, “competitive stats”. All playlist in the arena section sit on the same stat-tracker. Is means your K/D is also being effected by things like griftball and BTB (neither of which are competitive, those are social). I often wonder what some players records would really look like if no social playlists counted towards K/D, making ranked game types being the only thing tracked in that section.

That’s exactly it. That’s why I feel that 343i should go the same route that Bungie did with Halo 3, and give us both Ranked and Social playlists, each with their own stats.
Care less about your KD. That’s how I deal with it. Nobody ever mentions my KD to me and I never look at it. Just know that you are as good as you are at the game and don’t give the numbers a glance.
