Infection MMR

What is everyone’s opinion on the now present infection rank system.
I myself dislike it having to match sweats like It’s Jomiter, UnkownEmerald ect all the time because of my Sp rank.
Spartan ranks do not represent skill levels and it’s annoying playing a social playlist that reps rank. I’m 146 and I match at least 5-6 145+s in every match. From scoring 200+ regularly to scraping over 100 in multiple games sucks due to non random matching.
Lets face it we are not all skill full players like Trypal Claim and the other sweats. It’s supposed to be a fun playlist not a competitive tournament.

Halo 5’s Matchmaking system is somewhat broken. Between this issue and the issue where you can match fireteams of 6 players all communicating with each other while you are alone in Warzone, it is definitely something that needs looked into. I’m not entirely sure that infection matches due to SR levels, but some players do “smurf” which is where they create a new account to match lower level players to get more kills. It is an extremely annoying thing and, in my mind, is just as bad as hacking.

Stay strong!

I wanna say it’s a love-hate situation for me. Sometimes I can sit back and chill with my Shotgun-Railgun combo in hand and have a decent chance of doing well, while there are times where some players who call me a “retard” based on my gameplay. I mean, seriously? Is that your choice of words for someone simply trying to pass the time?

Rock the rail gun / shot gun I got a killamangarro with the ark light this morning was boss!
In regards to SR levels I’m just trying to imply that someone with a 140 plus rating has extensive expierience and will reck your kill streak. Most likely that player is handy at infection and multiple players like this makes for a very sweaty game. While that can be fun it gets frustrating seeing the same sweats all the time and getting rekt by them. I match Jomiter all the time and Jom is a lot better than I am.

I spend a lot of time in infection and have this problem but for me it seems like its more average score than spartan rank
For example I normally score 200+ points if I’m having a good game and after that good game I start matching sweats like eagle precursor and other really good players which then I start sweating trying to beat them

In regards to smurfing a level 8 playing infection scored a killionaire and lord of the flies, safe to say I accused them of smurfing, they replied they weren’t but hey we all know. Eagle Precurser made a very informative video about it and showed “smurfing” by reking a bunch of noobs. It shouldn’t be like this either. Just hope 343 change this in the next halo to random as it should be or change it back.

Interesting, sounds like that could be the case. Ditto when you have Redacted, Redacted, and Redacted in the same lobby you are going to get smashed and score less than 100 unless you are skilled. Notice Redacted and the other sweats don’t put up triple nairs on YouTube any more? Reason being they aren’t matching lobbies full of noobs.

Yeah eagle said hes tired of matching sweats and so does spoox but they are more sweaty than anyone else in infection

Not sure why you’re hung up on the Spartan rank since that doesn’t really have anything to do with skill level. I’m a perfect example. I played a lot of Infection over the weekend and I ended up placing in the mid-pack range for most of them, and in some I went neg cause I didn’t really know the map layouts.

For the skill system, I don’t really notice it in that playlist. Yeah, people get a lot of kills and multikills, but anyone can do that if they’re having a good day and maybe a bit lucky. My strategy is not give people multi’s if they’re on one. I constantly saw people just blindly running in for the kill when the last man standing already have several. Sorry, but I’m not gonna purposely be in a clip for some garbage Infection montage.

Strict MMR restrictions pretty much ruin any social playlist, regardless of if it’s infection or anything else.
It severely limits the possible match-ups so that anyone who’s “ok” ends up playing multiple sweats all day in every game, all for the sake of protecting noobs from that 1/10 match where they might match one tryhard.

Halo 3 had the better idea here: let the “extreme noobs” have their own, hidden playlist (proving grounds) to help avoid a bad experience early on, but “spread out” the tryhards more evenly amongst the population beyond that.

Example:
It’s more fair for anyone level 1-40 to match a 50 every 10 games…
Than for the levels 1-30 to never match the 50, meanwhile the 30-40’s have to match them 50% of the time to make up for it.

If you want the latter of the two, then that’s already half the point of ranked…
By making everything in the game the former system, it destroys the social community for both tryhards and the noobs, since neither gets experience outside their own “bubble.”

I’ve tried explaining this multiple times in the feedback threads, but all I get from 343 is “well I’d rather play against diamonds than Onyx’s.” The decision seems to come down to the experiences of a very narrow range of opinions, as 343 is either complete noobs or complete tryhards. They don’t know what this game is like for anyone else in the middle.

Interestingly enough I was playing last night “in Australia” and there was literally no one online. I played 6 or 7 games of infection. For 3 games I matched fairly skilled players and finished in the middle way 5th or whatever. The other 4 games I got chucked in with very inexpierienced players and won every game scoring well over 200 every time multikills ect. I’m no sweat so over 200 is a good score for me just saying.
So if there is literally no one online the game will still chuck you in a match if you have to it seems like, even if it is against a bunch of noobs. Like these guys weren’t aiming with swords or anything.
Disclaimer I had to wait a long time to match last night and got kicked from the lobby multiple times before the game would match me.
It was just like before when the game was throwing randoms against each other.
