Infection Maps

So, I’ve been playing the heck out of Infection, it’s a pretty decent incarnation of it. I was wondering what you guys think about the “all forge” maps. I believe this is a full list of maps? (Correct me if I’m wrong.) R.I.P.tide, Malignant, Nerve Center, Backwoods, Black Friday, Drill Site, and Power Instillation 484? (Why 484?) Anyway, each map has some issues, right? Here are my thoughts.

R.I.P.tide and Black Friday are decent maps and I couldn’t really find any issues. I can’t say the same for the others. (Most of these issues have to do with camping areas.) On Drill Site, almost everyone hides behind the helicopter. This area gives you a good view of most of the station, as well as decent cover and leg room. It feels like no really uses any other part of that map? The same can apply to Backwoods, at least to a point. Backwoods is probably my favorite map, but most of it is unused by survivors. Everyone groups together at the well, or in a few instances in the small house. I’ve never won a match when every survivor was at the well. Although there are three ways in, the survivors field of view is huge. (Also, if you jump into the well, you die.)

The person who hides behind the metal bars on Malignant is always the last survivor, it’s a really hard place to get to. Luckily, only one or two people can utilize this space successfully. On Nerve Center, everyone groups together on the ledges above the maps. This would be a good idea if not for the limited ammunition. This is not as much of a structural issue as some. Finally, there is 484. Everyone always hides underground… But they never survive? Why is that? Maybe due to the fact that the flood only target those areas; again, most of the map isn’t even used.

Overall, these are the issues that I have noticed, along with the fact that despite having active camo, the Alpha Flood emits so much mist that they are visible. I would definitely like to hear some thoughts. Do you agree or disagree with my evaluations of the maps? Which map is your favorite? Should there be an actual infection map that wasn’t created by forge?
Thanks for taking the time to read!

Again, let me know if I missed any infection maps?

RIPtide (the tunnel that is usually open but is barred off and has 2 crates) and Black Friday (only played the map once, so I can’t remember for sure where, but another room that had crates you could stand on top of) both have places you can camp, just like everywhere else.

I also don’t like the fact that the active camo doesn’t truly make you invisible. It is fine for sneaking up on people, but if you get in their site lines and aren’t close, they can still see and kill you easily.

You forgot The Crypt.

I totally agree, and yes, I forgot about that part of R.I.P.tide. I have never played the Crypt but I will check that one out!

The crypt seems to put the infected players at a disadvantage because they look like glow sticks on that map.

That is something else that bugs me about all the maps. Another thing I found on Backwoods is that near the cliff by the river. A lot of people will TK Spartan Slam you off that cliff. This is either for fun or for being the Last Man Standing. Does anyone know why people do this? Anyway, I really need to check out the Crypt.

Ground Pound should honestly be removed from Infection in my opinion. I’ve yet to see anyone use it to kill an Infected. People only use it to teamkill by forcing people off of ledges to their deaths. Whether the cliff on Backwoods, the platforms on Drill Site, the holes within the Crypt, teamkilling is a massive issue in Infection currently.

And when players see the glowsticks they take out the binary rifle you can find in the most convienent spot and snipe them.

Technically it’s not Team Killing, it’s making you commit suicide. Worst of all, you lose points and cannot ban the player. I don’t see any way to fix this problem unless they change it so survivors cannot physically move other survivors. Another thing I agree with is the fact that Spartan slamming is technically useless. Why do the survivors have it and not the flood? And I keep getting complaints about the whole “glow stick thing.” Why are the flood illuminated? They never were in Halo 4 or Reach? I hope this problem is addressed soon. Thoughts or any other problems?

I still haven’t played the Crypt, but I did find Station Zulu. I don’t know about everyone else but it’s one of my least favorite map. Structurally and otherwise. I’m not really sure what it is, any thoughts?

Fun stuff

Are The Crypt or Lunar even in the infection playlist anymore?

Really? It’s one of my top maps. I think it has a decent amount of power weapons and the rounds are rarely dead. I will say that visually it looks terrible like the other forge maps. Oh and I’m 99 percent sure Crypt was removed form rotation. I havent matched it in a year.

Sorry didn’t realize this thread was 4 years old.
