Infection kind of stinks now. Needs updating.

It was fun when it first came out and nobody knew the maps yet, but now the fun’s over. The maps in this playlist are loaded with OP holdout spots (Power Installation 484 anyone?), and everyone has found them now. The last time I played, I got a match on Backwoods where literally 6 or 7 people all went to that same spot where they can only be approached from one direction (I’m unsure how to describe it exactly, but anybody who has played this map recently should know what I’m talking about). “The zombies just need to rush them with numbers” you say. Well, that’s pretty difficult with only 5 people infected, or even less because the others are off hiding somewhere. You just get mowed down. And I thought that with the humans spawning with such limited ammo, surely they wouldn’t be able to last long, but no. All they need to do is team shoot so that each person only expends a few bullets on each kill, and they can easily make it the whole round. There wasn’t even a last man standing in any of the rounds that game on Backwoods.

The word is also out about the hidden CE pistols. I liked it better when I would get in to a match, and would be the only one who knew about those. :frowning: But oh well, I couldn’t expect that to last forever.

So anyway, I think a few things need to happen:
1.) New maps. The current ones are okay, but adding more would help keep it fresh. There is no shortage of community made infection maps. You could even put out an announcement to the community that you were scouting new maps for infection MM, and you’d get plenty of results in no time. Please just make sure they are not filled with overpowered holdouts with only one narrow hall to the survivors, like Power Installation 484. Seriously, screw that map.
2.) Buff the zombies. I say they should be allowed to sprint. So many rounds are ending with the zombies being lucky to infect more than one or two people.
3.) Maybe add more game modes than just the regular infection like living dead used to have back in the Halo 3 days. I’d love to see Speed Demons come back. Give the zombies super speed and the survivors shotties and BRs, or maybe DMRs, with really limited ammo of course. I also would say that I’d like to see Creeping Death or Creeping Rockets again, but I’m probably alone on that opinion.

That’s all I can think of at the moment. Infection is still a great mode with great potential, just in need of some enhancement and modifications.

Infection brought me back after a 2 month break, and kept me entertained for like 3 weeks. Needs more variety.

I think it just needs new maps and modes. I love this new infection but its gone a bit stale now.

More maps would be a great addition to the gamemode. However I would say that an easy way to make sure people aren’t able to use these OP spots is simply cutting people off who are enroute to said spot. I have been in games where I am the survivor and we end up surviving because people make it to these spots. Though when I’m an infected I always go to spots where I notice people stay in and then get whomever is unlucky enough to stumble upon me first.

As for the rushing them with numbers and it not working, I would have to say I have had many experiences where doing such succeeds. If the Infected continuously rush, or simply gather up and then charge it ends up working. Once one of those players in that corner dies, the rest of the group breaks. When I’m infected I’m not careful to stay alive, and it helps me in the end as my suicidal tactics always brings one person down with me.

Pretty much this.

OP, don’t forget to use your mic to ccordinate zombie rushes. If there is a last man standing in a tight spot - you can keep throwing numbers at him and he will have to reload eventually. This will require zombies to gather outside and then rush the last man.

New infection maps would be awsome

I have to say, when the people are all camped out, I enjoy the feeling of infecting at least a few of them so they could feel mg pain lol

Sprint and an extra thruster burn would do a lot for the infected.

I got bored of it after the first day honestly. It was fun as a custom game with friends back in the day, but matchmaking ruined the experience for me.
