Infection 2.0 your ideas

Let’s face it. Infection is one of, if not the most popular gametype in halo. I think in Halo 4 they need to evolve infection. Maybe playing as the flood (=D) or maybe a Spartan that actually looks like a zombie. What ideas do you have?

look as a zombie? you mean armor scratched, blood, armor tainted with green slime or w/e, and a cracked visor?

flood skins for infected players, infected arms things as swords, pestilence on all infected players, infected players give off flood sounds, maps would be able to be customized through forge using a forge skin editor so in other words the map would have the same layout but look different so in this case a flood wasteland

Yeah, I’ve thought about including the Flood into Infection as well. It would definitely make Infection more interesting for me. But the only way I could see it working well is if they give the Flood “whip-like” overgrowth located near the player’s wrist the same strength and abilities as an energy sword.

Ya, all that they have to do to make infection perfect is to make the infected actually look infected.

This. I think a good mix would be nice

The only problem I foresee with including a Flood-infected SPARTAN is the fact that the infection will probably reveal parts of the SPARTAN’s natural anatomy (face, wrists, chest, etc). 343 Industries will probably want to prevent you from seeing any part of a SPARTAN except for his/her armour because that could possibly ruin a sense immersion.

There can be nasty growths where the face should be.

How about maps that provide atmosphere. Maps that have destroyed buildings and rainy spooky weather that are regular maps rather than forge built ones.

Yeah, I also think they should have a flood firefight. Maybe where you start out fighting covies or forerunners but then maybe round 5 or something they become infected and you gotta fight the flood wich would make it harder at first trying to prepare for the flood

yea but if they just put growths and spores on the outside and give them like viney-moldy melee weapons (kind of like the flood boney hands)

Well I want a Dark FX where the non-infected use flashlights to see around but the infected can see in Night Vision or something. Also the option so that way infected/ non-infected people can’t go through certain doors. Oh and Flood models could work just make it so that way the Flood form is the same shape as a Spartan but looks like a monster!

Halo 3 style. Maps that were made for infection should be the ones in the playlist

Flood (my replacement for zombies) start out as infection forms. They crawl at a somewhat faster speed than on the previous Halo games, and are able to crawl on walls (similar to the Necromorph Lurker form on Dead Space 2). To infect someone, you have to get within melee range of the human and press X to launch a quick-time event where you press the melee button repeatedly, for five seconds. The only way to counter this is for another human player to shoot the infection form off of you, or for you to press a randomly generated list of buttons (only includes A, X, B, and Y) to counter it. If the flood player is able to infect you before you counter, then you get infected. The scene would look like this: a human player is holding off the infection form’s injector (or whatever those things are called). If the flood wins, it shoves it’s injector spike down the human’s spine or into his chest (you get to see the transformation too!). If the human wins, he crushes the flood in his hand/ throws it on the ground and stomps it/ shoots it with the pistol. When you infect someone, after the transformation, you then become a combat form. The combat form has a tentacle melee attack (no weapon pickup for flood, even combat form), a charge-up power jump, and sprint.

Imo, it would be very fun and cinematic

it has to be original infection. were talking new skins and scary noises. halo 4 will make or brake this series and they cant try any thing to far fetched or different cuz if reach isnt enough evidence people hate change

Make Zombies feel like Zombies.

We’ve had three games now where Zombies has basically been “Spartans with Swords kill Spartans with Guns”. This is fine…As long as you don’t actually want to use the gametype to feel like Zombies. Infection is an incredibly powerful gametype, and it shouldn’t be changed to be “Just Zombies”, but I think there could be some optional stuff included to make it feel a little more…Zombie-ish =)

First off, there should be two new “weapons” that players can start with (In any gametype!): Fists, and Zombie Claws.

Fists would finally bring unarmed combat to Halo, with players being able to start with just their fists, and punch down their opponents. Not only would this be awesome for customs, but this could be SO helpful for machinima that’s been looking for a good “unarmed” stance since Halo 1.

Zombie Claws would be exactly like fists, but instead of a punch animation, the spartan would strike out in a more animalistic slash, much more like a zombie would. The zombie claws would also have a minor lunge attached to it, to replicate the sword. I think something neat would be to have the “Reload” animation for Zombie Claws be a moan or howl. Have it be on a long cooldown so people don’t spam it…But it could be really cool for immersion!

Secondly, there should be an option in the Infection gametype to enable “Zombie mode”. This would make it so that any “infected” players would look and move more like zombies. They would be hunched over, armor cracked and bleeding, maybe even with some visible flood infection. They would limp around if they were walking, and go into a bit of a broken frenzy when running.

Imagine playing a game where zombified-looking Spartans were running at you, howling and clawing trying to kill you. Definitely more scary!
