Inertia in movement is missing. Please include 343

I just realized a final touch I would like to be included in infinite related to physics…

Spartans have no inertia and it leads to unrealistic, unfluid, cartoon type in game movement. The spartan suit should gain speed and be easy to move in that direction and harder vice versa… But hey this is not a physics lesson.

I hope they can implement this into the game for John’s sake saving cortana…

The reason why it is so important to implement is because as us veterans age we seek dynamic realism that can make halo seem so Disney and die off…

I’m not complaining, just noting to the director (former bungie) in charge that this is the primary lack of competitive dynamic against rivals… #ILoveUBungie

What I’m saying is get some delta dude in a weight vest motion sensor tech and see his movements… The head should Bob (down from left to the right side) on extreme weight shifts and stuff. Maybe this is a good thing for a dlc but I think it would be awesome.

If you did it right it might be like auto crouch and remove a button or… Mind :boom: you could add your own crouches with weight shifts and auto bobbin to create true evolution… Over 10 years bc we like Lil changes

That could be a disaster for PvP as the hitboxes would constantly wobble around and make gunfights very RNG dependent.

ya, at the end of the day Halo has never really worked like that and it does not really need it

We’re talking about hyper advanced super soldiers who have the reaction time of 20 milliseconds… not to mention they have armor that amplifies that reaction and many other things… and then add the fact that AI companions like Cortana further amplify everything beyond that.

With all that in mind, I think it’s reasonable to see nearly instantaneous direction changes with no perceptible motion delay issues.

Frankly, from a realism point of view, I don’t care. However, I believe momentum conservation is an underappreciated gameplay mechanic, and I feel like with Halo 4 and 5 Halo has moved in a direction where abilities like Thruster Pack don’t really respect momentum conservation. But to be clear, I want momentum conservation to be respected where it benefits the gameplay. Where I doesn’t, i don’t care, and if realism comes in the way of interesting gameplay, realism should be the one to go out the window.

Didn’t (one of) the Killzone games have this and people hated it?

Do you mean adding in heavy visual “sway” while running and hard to make slight adjustments in direction? Kinda like Gears running for example?

Personally I would hate that. I get wanting realism so I do think it would be cool if that would be something you could toggle, but me personally I like flexible movement and a steady view over that, especially in mp. Currently I play Apex and I turned off camera sway as soon as possible lol

I think the benefits to game play mechanics are a good point and agree. Simple and fun makes sense and… Obviously makes for a good game.

If they were to do this I think aim assist would have to be reduced. As it stands, thrust might not be in the game and strafe speed (time it takes to shift momentum left and right) seems to have gotten slower in H5…so if this were increased in Infinite there might be too little room to outmaneuver opponents.

It also leads people to feel like movement is sluggish. It is a common complaint in a game like PUBG but it is an intentional decision in a tactical BR. In an arena shooter I think it would get downright frustrating.

a toned down thruster pack with conserved momentum, maybe some bouncyness to spartans on high velocity impact, would create cool gameplay indeed. could lead to high skill map surfing.

This is a good point, an underrated point in fact. And I’m with you.
