I just thought of this idea, inspired by the Anniversary gametype variants of changing the pistol into the overpowered beast it was in Halo:CE. My idea is if 343i could add in an option in either ‘Forge’ or ‘Gametype Options’, to allow players to set weapon traits (like objective traits & player traits) for any weapon they choose to pick up.
Forge
Let’s say I’m in ‘Forge’, and I select the Plasma Pistol and choose to set the damage multiplier to 200%, making it more of a power weapon. Now, with that ‘set’, any player who picks up that weapon will have a weapon with the new damage multiplier. This could also be in the options menu when selecting a weapon (extra clips, respawn, etc…)
Gametype Options
Another example, in the ‘Gametype Options’ menu, we would have a list of every weapon in the game and have the option to change the damage multipliers and etc…, instead of just the players themselves (player traits).
I would like to keep Player Traits, but I would also love to have the addition of Weapon Traits, because these two can have a very unique combination of use.
Example
Player Traits | Damage Multiplier = 90%
Weapon Traits | Damage Multiplier = 200%
This means that the weapon will deal 200% of its original set damage, however, the players with the Player Trait set can only deal 90% of that 200% damage multiplier.
