There may have been topics on this already, so sorry if there were, but I think the level cap needs to be raised, and sometime soon. A lot of players are at or near 130 already, and the game has only been out for about a month.
I know multiplayer is supposed to be about competition and what not, but part of what makes it interesting for me is the progress you make by earning XP and leveling up after each game you play. A lot of that interest would be gone if I hit 130, and knowing every game I play doesn’t really count towards anything anymore. I’m sure a lot of the players at 130 right now would like the XP they earn from matches, commendations, and challenges to actually be worth something again.
Any thoughts, ideas, or news on this topic?
Coming early 2013, there will be a new ranking system. The Competitive Skill Rank (CSR) that will be on playlists. From what we know, it will be like a traditional Halo 2 & 3 ranking system. (With probabaly some changes).
That should keep a lot of people interested. I know I’m going to like it.
I’m sure some day they may add more ranks than 130. However, I wouldn’t count on it being soon, since only a very small minority are in that range yet.
Here is a suggestion:
Play the game in moderation. It will last much longer. I am currently an SR 88 and the game has been out more than a month. I take my time with War Games and I am in no hurry to rank up. Yes, I will probably hit SR 130 in 1-2 months, but it really is no big deal. It’s just like being an Inheritor on Reach…you keep playing and playing and playing.
Trying working for Commendations as opposed to ranks. Those, aswell as being much harder to master al of them, are also more “skill” based, and challenging.
More Specializations! lol
Some people feel that Specializations grant a subtle advantage and therefore to make the duration longer to acquire potential abilities to help enhance individual play would not be beneficial. You won’t win this battle.
NOTE: Move on to identifying required technical update that truly need to be made.
I doubt it the level cap will be increased. If the next-gen Xbox comes out next year which it is rumoured to be, then there is no real point except for a last hurrah before 343i move to the new Xbox.

I was just kidding. I figured the “lol” would make that more apparent, but I guess not, my bad.
100% commendations
Getting better at the game
LASO
Winning (goes towards 100% commendations)
Having fun
Yeah you are right, there is nothing left to go after once you reach SR-130. -_-
BTW I’m an SR-130 and have yet to be bored of Halo 4.
I think new ranks should take way longer to master. Oh and it would be cool if they’d put in new armor for mastering these.

Source?
and i agree with yeskezspanem im rank 130 and still not bored of the game just want 343 to hurry up and add Grifball and Binary Slayer to the playlists
Yeah I’ve seen plenty of level 100+ on Halo 4. Raise the cap to 500.

Agreed. But can they actually do that, I wonder? Hitting 130 (a very low rank) and then just getting stuck in whatever specialization you picked last and never earning anymore xp forever feels…unfinished. Like they just chopped off part of the progression system. At least in Reach it took a mucchhhhhhhhhh longer time to reach the top rank.
Having reached level 130 here is my view:
- Commendations are worth 0 XP so of no use and idc if I get them or not.
- Getting kills are fun but again worth 0 XP, so I don’t care if I get many or few.
- Winning is worth 0 XP, so idc if we win.
- Loosing is worth 0 XP, so idc if we loose.
- Challenges are just plain terrible period and you guessed it worth a whopping 0 XP, so of no use.
So in essence you play the game for nothing. You have fun when you pull off the final kill and go yeah extra 1000 XP thanks to that, sweet.
When you do the exact same thing and know it is worth 0 XP, you simply go mehhh that was nice.
But when you go to the lobby and search matchmaking for 5 minutes and get no game because there are like 1000 in the playlist you go mehhh. That died fast. I wonder why?
