I have been a dedicated Halo fan for over 10 years now, and to my dismay I have witnessed the online population dwindle rapidly in the past few years.
I strongly feel and believe that this drop in online traffic is due to the removal of:(Visible IN GAME Skill Rank 1-50), lack of unlocks and tokens, and various other “boast” material that keeps gamers dedicated to Matchmaking. Simply put, having solely an Exp rank system on the Halo Franchise will not retain replay-ability. What results is a polarized game experience, where players either win by a large margin or lose by a large margin.
For example, lets take a look at Black Ops 2. Arguably, this game contains a wealth of boasting material. That not only promotes players to return to the game, but to continue playing countless hours to complete tasks. These gimmicks range from various gun skins, player cards describing skill, etc. However, it also fails in the lack of a skill system.
343, you have an opportunity to make every player of your games feel like an appreciated individual. You have done extremely well with challenges, the “Bundle Pack” (which I will download on day one), and vast customization of armors.
Return a revamped Skill Rank System with various boast material and you will claim the mantle once more.
But the game needs to be fun first.
So far, Legendary Slayer is the closest thing we have to true Halo.
However, it’s still infected by Sprint and Flinch.

I can’t agree with this.

I can agree with this.
H4 was spartan in the unlocks and the ranking system caps out very early. I was playing Reach for years to reach Inheritor. I hit 130 a few months after launch. The only other thing to feasibly keep me interested in playing would be Commendations to unlock all of the armor skins and visor colors. And some of those are a very long road with no “pit stops” in sight.

It’s also one of the most popular shooters to date.

Of course no request is simple. But the idea of adding these achievements in itself is very elementary.
Having Sole Exp on online matchmaking is a failure to the franchise and the evidence is lucid. I’d very much appreciate any response to my argument that actually makes sense and would contribute as a solution.
