Increased Player Count?

What do you guys think about an Increased Player Count to 24, 32 or even 64? Since TMCC is going to be on the Xbox One and have dedicated servers, i think this would be a great time to raise the player count. It would make Custom Games way more chaotic and fun. They could even add another playlist to matchmaking call Massive Team Battle or something along those lines. It would be similar to Ground War in Call of Duty.

I don’t see it happening and personally I don’t want to see it happen. Halo has always performed great with 16 players max and Big Team maps have been designed around that cap.

Imagine Sandtrap with 64 players, it would be chaotic.

I agree, but 16 players is enough for me.

  • “OP?”…Imma Zealot!

Maybe you wouldn’t like to play something like that, but i would LOVE to play that! Why not just give the option to players who want this? Its not like your going to be forced to play it.

Nah, that would feel to hectic. Halo is great at 16.

No thanks, I like the original much more. Just feels like they’d be shoehorning it in more than anything.

It’s not the fact that I don’t want to play it, but it would be an awful experience for everyone. Like I said, the maps were not designed for anything higher than 16 players.

Halo 3 only support 100 respawn points and Halo: Combat Evolved and Halo 2 isn’t even known to me, but the spawns would need to be reworked on EVERY map.

Lets not forget the frame rate drops, the lag issues (dedicated servers or not, 64 players would still cause lag issues if people had bad ping) and more.

Maybe in future titles if they want to up the player limit and design some maps around it, let them - but Halo CE, 2, 3 and 4 were designed with 16 players in mind.

Maybe try this in a limited time only playlist. Not sure id like it, but I also didn’t expect to enjoy shooting sticky detonators on a flat field in the spirit of the Final Four either.

Why not play this other FPS Series called Battlefield?

OP, and everyone who wants it, keep in mind that we’re not dealing with a new game, on a new engine, we’re dealing with Halo CE-4, all of which was designed for 16 players max. The people working on the anniversary edition of Halo 2 has modified Halo 2’s Engine enough to support the extra engine, but they aren’t willing to mess with anything else because if you mess around too much in that old engine, you could run the risk of screwing up and causing more issues, and remove the classic feel of Halo 2.

And we all know that they aren’t touching Halo 3’s engine, and as far as I know, they’re not touching Halo 4’s, and you can’t increase on game’s player count with out doing it across the board in this collection.

Needless to say, this, IS NOT GOING TO HAPPEN. No matter how much you want, beg, demand, and request this, it’s not going to happen.

16 players is how they originally created multiplayer for. I wouldn’t want more than that. The maps would get really hectic pretty fast.

I would like the max player count to remain at 16. Halo is different than other games and I think going above 16 would just be chaos.

Halo will ship “Exactly as it did ten years ago” This means no increases in player numbers as well. Also, whenever the phrase “this would be similar to COD” escape somebodies mouth. You know it’s a bad idea. Don’t **** with Halo, keep it as it is. We don’t want anybodies “improvements” on it. We want ********** Halo. Cheers, rant over *thumbsup.

Also, thank you to the community for voting against this ******* idea. DP, sorry.

IF Halo’s player cap ever changes, the most I’d want is a 10 v 10 Big Team sort of thing. Any more than that is going way too far, and even 20 players is kind of pushing it.

As others have pointed out, the MCC games aren’t being changed and so this won’t happen - Halo 5/6/onwards maybe, but not in the MCC.

maybe raise the count of players in a social playlist, like 15v15 Big team. Halo is looked at as more of a arena slaying game, 4v4, 5v5 etc, i dont want this hectic franchise to transform into Battlefield with 64 man player matches, i dont see it happening and hopefully wont happen

The maps were originally designed for 16 at most. I could see them bumping it up to 24 maybe, but anymore than that is a big no. We don’t need every game being 12v12 or 24v24 these days just because the hardware is better. Titanfall is proof of that.

That being said I would also just like it to be 8v8 at most for the simple reason that it was the way the original was made and this is a remake of the original trying to remain faithful to the vanilla MP.

No doubt the old games could handle easily 32 or maybe even 64 players … but thye are left untouched. I’m ok with this, 16 players is already enough fun chaos. If Halo 5 has more then that I am fine with since it would be built for it. The older games were not made for more than 16.

64 players is insane. You wouldn’t be able to do anything with all the nades and betraying.
