Increased player count up to 40-60 potentially

Saw this today, seems pretty cool knowing we may get a pretty huge increase in player count. For MCC,
I seriously believe if they are investigating this for MCC, we will be getting this as well on Infinite. Thoughts?

No at least not for btb. They have told us btb is 12v12
Still expect to see some larger pvevp mode announced but as of now infinite is 24 players.
This should prob be posted in mcc or general. Monitors might get ya.
EDIT: Also if you consider that infinite will be more taxing than mcc to run but is natively available on the same base hardware they likely won’t be able to match that player count in infinite without cloud integration. Not impossible though.

I suppose thats the case, but atleast it’s nice to see them work on an increased player count. I felt like it most surely means Halo Infinite will get some cool modes with an increased player count as well, or atleast I hope it will. Would be a shame if they didn’t.

I hope that we could get a massive firefight with like 60 people and tons of enemies coming from every direction. or if there was an 8v8 with 5 teams.
Now I’m just imagining modes like jump rope, infection, duck hunt, etc. with 60 people

I don’t think the player count in existing game modes will change, but this opens the possibilities for new larger game modes. Add that in with the fact that the game has bots now, and there are a few types of game modes I can think of off the top of my head that would be a lot of fun.

Hopefully they are looking into bigger lobbies fo Halo Infinite. Seems odd they’re doing it for MCC. Maybe they’re testing for future updates.

I do believe we’ll certainly get much bigger lobbies if they are investigating it, just imagine the chaos of having like 40-50 players in a single game. Sounds very fun.

But Im sure they’re just gonna keep it low for now so they dont overdo it.

I hope so too. I imagine would be chaotic fun. Maybe there’s an option to add it some point, we can hope.

12v12 is a bit underwhelming for the current gen, so I am hoping for extended capabilities. perhaps in an update after launch

Considering this game is meant to be the platform for the next 10 years it almost seems like a certainty that the overall match sizes will increase at some point, maybe not at launch so they can insure the launch is smooth, but I’m willing to put money on eventually getting bigger game modes.

Agreed, but Halo Infinite is last gen too not just current gen. They might’ve done that for the sake of the 90% of people playing on Xbox One

This would open up the possibility for very large maps and troop transportation being very important. Imagine flying a pelican to drop off players at key locations, or deploying vehicles via pelican. I think that’d be incredibly fun.

I absolutely do not want to be identified with the toxic folks who only ever complain - I love 99% of what we’ve been shown of Infinite so far and am super pumped for it.

That said, I’ll acknowledge I was just a bit surprised and disappointed by the playercount for the new BTB. I kinda thought it would be higher. I thought at very least they’d try to break their own record of 12v12 with Warzone from H5.

Since Infinite is supposed to be such a long term platform, they still might add a bigger team mode in the future. I wouldn’t be surprised if hardware limitations with the OG XB1 are holding back more players at this point.

I was quite confuse when I saw the video yesterday about the possibility to get 40-60 player lobbies on the Mcc when they’re just doing 24 for Infinite. I was really hoping more for 60 player lobbies on Infinite since it’s newer and would be built to support larger lobbies. So hopefully, maybe, they’re just testing on how it turns out for the player-base to have 40-60 player lobbies if people like it then we could possibly see an update on Infinite after it’s release down the road to go from 24 to 40 or so on

I think it should be noted also that people want the halo experience back and btb getting any bigger than 24 players would entirely change the map design. The arena shooter at heart nature of halo extends to the larger game modes.
There is also no confirmation as of yet btb is the largest mode. They did the same player count plus more vehicles and AI in 5 so there’s lots to consider.
I’m of the opinion 12v12 is a design choice not a design limitation.

I think people should calm down regarding this topic.

Terms like “investigation” and “potentially” could just as well mean that
there won’t be any kind of increase if the devs can’t think of a way to make it work flawlessly.

Don’t want to be the bummer but don’t start already to expect any changes anytime soon.
