Seriously, we need this. FFA is pretty chaotic with no teammates to watch your back, and so the motion tracker is essential to your strategy; to stay alive, you need to be able to tell when there’s a sprinter closing in on you, if there’s a large concentration of opponents in an area to avoid walking into a deathtrap, and of course it helps to locate targets if you’re going for kills.
In it’s current state… it’s like playing with no Motion Tracker at all, and we all know how awkward and random that was in Halo 4 and Halo: Reach. I absolutely hated it when people voted for Slayer Pro in those games; and even though I was able to win games in FFA Slayer Pro from time to time, it was always the result of dumb luck. I hated it.

Oh, yeah; that happened to me a few times as well. I got a First Strike earlier because someone spawned literally right next to me. He didn’t see me, but I saw him… lucky. But yeah, the spawns in FFA are completely messed up.
I completely agree!!! This is one of those little changes that are causing halo to have way too many nose to nose engagements imo. With the significantly increased mobility from clamber and unlimited sprint I think the radar needs to stretch out a bit. I miss mid range fights

You know, they said they decreased the tracker range because players were being too “cautious” in the Beta… what, they just expect us to run around blind and hope we don’t get shot in the back?
Cautious is how I have always played Halo, from Halo 3 onward. I look at the battlefield, I look at the motion tracker, I see what’s going on and where, and then I decide what I want to do. Reduced motion tracker range, coupled with the new map design that reduces line-of-sight, makes that extremely difficult, and the game becomes more frustrating than fun. Fights I would normally avoid due to high probability of getting I now run headlong into, because at range I can’t tell if there’s just one player in an area, or five.
The entire radar range for all modes needs to be increased and fixed. I’ve had people below me not show up, people above me not show up, people appear suddenly and already in punch range. The motion tracker is broken and useless right now and needs a range increase as well as seeing people above and below. And while they’re at it the can make health last longer and put all the weapons back in the game.

Agreed, the range for the Motion Tracker need’s an increase to make it more in line with prior games.

After another day of playing Halo 5, I have to agree that the Motion Tracker is indeed broken in more ways than one. Not only is it’s short range making it useless, but half the time enemies don’t appear on it at all. It’s infuriating.
100% agree. Short radar is fine when you have teamates to call out enemy positions but in FFA you need longer radar range since you have no one to cover your back. Tbh FFA seems kinda broken rn even though i somehow got placed in onyx.

I also got placed in Onyx somehow. Either that’s broken too, or Onyx isn’t as a high a rank as it was before…

Im a decent player, i just dont think im in The top 2500. Maybe there arent many people playing FFA.
Definitely this. Most of my encounters have been at close range because enemies don’t show up on the edge of the radar until they’re right around the corner. Radar range needs to be made consistent with the radar in previous Halo games.

Yeah I posted a thread on this as well. I’m pretty sure it is impossible to place outside of Onyx in FFA at the moment.
