So I’ve noticed lately that there are more and more modders on Reach (and no, I’m not raging, I have video proof). You know the ones I’m talking about, the guy who headshots you through a wall, the assassination-proof shotgun, the mobile armor lockers. I even met one who could make magical, invisible stickies instantly blow up your vehicle when you splattered him. While most of these are on at night (no neighborhood is safe any more), they’re still there. So why doesn’t anyone do something about it? It should be really easy to detect foreign tech in a game (microsoft did it with memory devices so we have to pay 60 for storage space). Please tell me that others are noticing it too and I’m not just getting really bad luck in matchmaking.
Sounds like you just have really bad lag.
I don’t I just get matched with terrible hosts. But even with good connection, I still see things like this.
On the topic of lag, can we please get a better server system? I once got matched with a bunch of guys from europe (FYI: I live in NA). And the lag was soooooo bad that I got killed, respawned and then a headshot medal appeared and the guy who killed me dropped dead (after his shields recharged. I thought that was hilarious)
I wish we could get servers like Halo PC has em, I hardly never see lag in PC, but then again, that’s PC for you.

wwwwuwuuuuuuuuututttttt are you talking about.
Halo pc for both windows and mac uses the FULL HOST SYSTEM. Reach has servers but they are not dedicated.
Halo ce for windows runs off the hosts connection (there are some custom builds with servers though) and unless the ping is <50ping the lag is worse than halo 3.

thats not modding: these are modding
cheater I recorded in HR:http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=FG5DiZbidTI
H3 swat, auto aim:http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Y61WFp_Kkw8
ddosing was a huge problem in h3 as well
Wheres your video proof OP?
Halo needs dedicated servers, GOW3 multiplayer is so ridiculously smooth.
Dedicated servers would be great…

In any given match, your connection is only as good as the host’s. Bad host means bad connection.

Don’tcha love how the guys (including me) with green lights across the board don’t get host while the guy with dial up gets host ALL THE TIME! Seriously, what was the logic behind this?

Or you haven’t gotten and kept host enough times to build a good “hosting record”, which evidently is how Reach picks host. Or you’re too (geographically) far away from host, and the problem is latency rather than any specific defects in their connection.
Don’t immediately assume incompetence when it comes to matters as complex as networking.
I never get host, it’s always other, laggier people >:(

I understand the frustration, but I’m just saying that it could be any number of factors other than the game itself.
For example, is your NAT open? Do you have good upstream bandwidth? What country (or continent, if you wish to avoid specifics) do you live in?

Yes, yes and NA.

Hm.
Well, I’m stumped. You could try contacting your ISP; I heard once that some like to do sneaky things, like throttling connection speeds.
of the almost 10,000 games i’ve played of halo, I can only recall getting modded twice. I highly doubt you’re facing modders daily, weekly, or even monthly.

Just a note, the only way to mod Halo: Reach in the way you are talking was patched early 2011, you are seeing really bad lag on your part, not the host, YOU.
There is currently NO way to mod halo reach. The ONLY mod is the usermap mods for forge. No aimbots, no shooting through walls, none of that. You are just lagging.

Obviously you didn’t read the part where I state having open Nat, nearly perfect bandwith and live in NA. I should get zero lag if I’m host. Instead, guests get hosts or the game picks the worst host (usually someone from elsewhere). So read the posts before you start throwing out accusations buddy.
