Increase Boltshot charge time, decrease range

Seriously, everytime I get into a 1v1 fight with someone and I’m about to win, they hide behind a wall, pillar, or box, and pull out the boltshot and wait. I don’t chase, and I usually don’t have grenades because I make efficient use of them to take down shields. They are also very scarce. I literally had a prolonged battle with this guy on Haven. I took down his shields and he hid behind the wall in the center. I tried to go around it taking a very wide angle to avoid CQC and he literally ran around the wall so I could not shoot him. I had to fight him again when his shields were up. I knocked them down AGAIN, and I didn’t charge, but my teammate did and he got 1sk’d by the boltshot.

Boltshot promotes camping, hiding, everything that detracts from a fair battle in Halo. I literally get less kill and spend more time waiting for nibs who hide and pull out a boltshot when their shields are gone. If they didn’t have a boltshot, which would be the case in a fair, normal Halo game in any other Halo, I would be able to engage them without fear of getting 1sk’d by a secondary weapon. The boltshot is primarily a noob weapon. It takes no skill other than the ability to run and hide when you lack the ability to outgun someone else.

I don’t understand why everyone defends it. Don’t they have the capability of winning a precision weapon fight instead of running around corners with a boltshot because they can’t?..

Well, looks like I’m staying in BTB or Swat.

It takes away the skillful play of the game such as br v br or br v dmr and you get the rest of it, I faced more boltshot chargers than for my whole halo 4 career last night, mind you the only reason they use the charge up is because they can’t get a kill any other way

I don’t know if I should be posting here, considering the amount of Boltshot Op threads anyways, but I agree. Keep the damage the way it is, but increasing the charge time and decreasing teh range would really help in balancing it out.

Maybe 343 should just remove the DMR and the Boltshot. Then everyone’s happy.

But the boltshot is rather OP. At the very least it shouldn’t be a starter.

People want the BR over the DMR because they think they are pros from Halo 2 & 3 and that the BR should be the best weapon. These two games were terrible and Halo 4 is much improved.

Making the boltshot a power weapon is a laughable suggestion. Decreasing it’s range is also.

Step back for a second and ask yourself what purpose it serves? It’s purpose is to be a counter for melee and for the shotgun/scattershot, yet, if I had a choice, I would much rather use the shotgun/scattershot because I can take down multiple enemies with it very quickly - making them power weapons. Power weapons in this game are designed to have counters - it’s not halo 2/3 where you can grab the BR and destroy anyone who just spawned because they start with the terrible SMG. And, if my opponents are working as a team and not running in like noobs, the boltshot won’t help me (the point of this game now). I MAY take down one of them, but then I get smoked. Also, if they use intelligence, they will listen for my boltshot/throw grenades/jump back/thruster pack/hologram/flank/jet pack/promethean vision/hardlight shield, etc.

you my friend you must have been terrible in halo 2 or 3 if you think they suck…go back to your noob game halo 4 the COD clone

It just shouldn’t be a one hit kill at all. I hate this weapon with passion, more than I hated Halo 3’s mauler. It’s even worse that it’s available as a starting weapon. They might as well let us start with needlers too.

Just decreasing the range should fix the problem and keep the boltshots utility.

They should either increase the charge time OR reduce the range. If they did both, it would make the Boltshot completely useless, and that it not the goal.

The Noob combo is a great way of taking out power weapons also the magnum is a good sidearm… can get cross map headshots with it, boltshot is just stupid and has no relevance… its too noob friendly and ruins the overall enjoyment of the game, people who deny the boltshots overpowering capabilities are obviously abusers who’re afraid of losing their lil noob gun, i will not be forced to look around corners for noobish boltshot wielders, innovation dictates adaptation… and innovation is not the best thing nowadays,id prefer people spawning with a freaking scattershot over the boltshot because of the 1 hit kill range the boltshot has at least its possible to survive the scattershot but boltshot… meh, boltshot=rage inducing gameplay and i will not play against boltshot users… if i see 1 i quit seems how theres no penalty

Its the range of the boltshot that is the problem when its OHK range is longer than a power weapon’s(IE Shotty, Scatter, Sword, Hammer) its a problem. I would like to see them nerf the overcharge while buffing the single shots so you can at least get 1 kill per mag without overcharging.
