Incorrect Voice ban

Yesterday I got banned for using my voice. This is wrong because I was legitimately playing. I didn’t even swear or anything. The only thing that would be close would be my Russian accent. How can that result in a ban? Can someone PLEASE fix this. I know it’s only a 1 week ban, but this is some stuff that isn’t right. I love you 343 and Microsoft guys, but REALLY?

It may not have been your accent. Excessive mutes from other players causes a voice ban, so it could have been anything from chatting with others who aren’t in the game (turn off your mic) to obnoxious background noise, like music or a fan. Check your mic indicator in-game. If it’s lit up, you’re broadcasting.

some people just mute everybody for no reason too, so it may just be that… unfortunately there isn’t much you can do really, if you ask me a mic ban is pointless, if people don’t wanna hear ya, they should know to mute ya…

No. It said I got banned.

> No. It said I got banned.

I mean that might be why you got banned… just people random muting you a lot…

It could also be that I use an accent here.

I highly doubt it, possibly, but i really don’t think thats why, unless you bumped into a LOT of racists in a row…

My background is quiet, and I’m not really annoying online.

little known fact: 343 hates Russians. just kidding. that’ll probably get me a week long ban, they don’t really have a sense of humor…

this really sucks

That’s helpful, in a way.

I got banned week one FOREVER so I know how you feel. I just played a game of Spartan Ops and got banned forever. I probably said that Bungie is better 1 to many times.

If you sit close to the tv it could be because everyone is hearing your game through their headset. I’ve muted many players because of this.

My volume on the TV is low enough where no repeat feedback is heard, like a Kinect.

Unfortunately for you OP this is how the Mute Ban works. Some people just mute for…nothing. That isn’t very often however, to get a mute ban you must be muted by quite a lot of people or just muted consistently over a long period of time.

People get annoyed by the simplest of things, this can be an accent, volume, music, feedback etc. Any of these can trigger a mute from another user and I’ll be honest I’m guilty of doing that for more frivolous reasons in the past.

As far as I know Mute Bans aren’t really reversed and since there’s no way to prove you didn’t do anything Microsoft would just keep you muted either for a short period of time or indefinitely.

I may be wrong though. I’m just hoping you understand that this probably won’t be changed. :frowning:

thanks, but this is 343’s issue, not mircosoft. Otherwise I can’t do anything on my LIVE, and support is ALWAYS a pain in my rear, so I am screwed for a week.

The Voice Ban is the only ban introduced in Halo:Reach that I disagree with. If I meet someone I don’t want to talk to, I can just mute them and (if necessary) block communications. There really is no point to it.

Be that as it may, it probably won’t change anything for you. :frowning:

Your best option is to just wait it out and think about anything, ANYTHING at all you could’ve done to get muted repeatedly.

Were you using the Kinect mic? If so then you deserved the ban. Piece of garbage sounds like somebody in the kitchen banging pots and pans together, I don’t know how anybody could possibly think that a bunch of Kinect mic users on Xbone is a good idea.

It could be broken down to these reasons:

  1. You were banned because of your accent or tone of voice. (racism, hate and idiots)

  2. Background noise. (this can really piss people off)

  3. You were rude, arrogant, and basically a yoink. (then you deserve it)

  4. You were an unfortunate victim of jealousy. (you killed someone and they couldn’t handle it)

  5. You’re in denial (you think you’ve done nothing wrong because you are so full of yourself that whatever you say or do is never wrong)

  6. You won’t shut up. (irritating and distracting)

There could be a few more but unfortunately you’ve been banned and time can only fix that now.
