Inconsistent

Anyone else feel inconsistent sometimes when it comes to playing Halo?

I play pretty decent most times, but sometimes I just feel like I’m playing pretty poor. Is it because I’m forcing myself to play and genuinely am just in the mood to play?

Well, a lot of that can depend on whether you’re playing social or ranked as well. Obviously if you’re playing social, you’re never really sure if you’re fighting someone who just picked up the game after 3 years, a child or even a pro. And supposedly in ranked, once you receive your rank, gameplay is supposedly to be relatively consistent to allow you the opportunity to hone your skill against players of your same skill level.

I always feel inconsistent at Halo, but I also never play Ranked, so that’s just a large part of the experience for me.

Probably depends on the day. Sometimes I can play like a pro with nearly perfect shots, then some days I can’t shoot anything. This can happen regardless of playing social or ranked. Also judging by OP’s Halo 5 rank it could be due to playing too much. I have similar issues since hands can cramp up after a while. I think it just means take a break for a while, let hands rest for a bit.

Absolutely.

I know that jumping back in and trying to play after a long break doesn’t usually end well for me, but on the flip side too much of one game type or way of playing can hinder my performance as well.

Overall though some days I’m just not as focused and make poor decisions that lead to bad games no matter how good my shot feels. This can kind of be corrected in my case but not if I start tilting. Then I just stop and try another time.

Of course sometimes my shot just sucks. My reactions are usually fine but I can get jerky with my reticule, which is generally nerves but also just a bad habit(lots of twitchy shooters in my past). Catching myself and just mentally smoothing my aiming often leads to improvement.
On the note of aim, sometimes I notice myself spamming shots, and not aiming precisely. Again this is mostly a mental thing that is pretty easy to correct.
