Including the community in the canon!

I am thoroughly enjoying the direction 343i is taking with the canon. The layers of sophistication being added is brilliant.

This is especially exciting with the inclusion of the community into canon with Infinity.

Although there will be millions of “enlisted” Spartan IVs, how many Spartan IVs will be the official number on the ship? Also, I really hope 343i assigns an official call-out Service Number that cannot be customized when you “enlist”.

i kinda like the idea of an official service number as long as it would carry across all halo’s

I like that too. That is what Galaxy at war tried to be but failed

If I remember correctly the Spartan IV on the infinity are in the thousands. That said since Spartan ops takes place months after the campaign god only knows how many more will enlist canonically…the UNSC is huge after all

I think Mass Effect 3 still could be relevant if the Multiplayer is used to transition to Mass Effect 4. For example, you would have to get to a certain N7 Rating to receive bonuses/start at a higher level assuming it’s a new storyline.

The idea of defending the Firebases that Shepard/The Alliance took back in the Campaign was awesome, but irrelevant once the Campaign concludes.

Back to Halo 4, the individual Spartan you enlist should be carried over the next Halos which would allow Halo Waypoint to become a true HUB for all games.

yes but it was also pretty lifeless and not story driven besides tiny references

Hahaha! Oh yeah, let’s include the community in canon. Then everybody can watch in wonder as the advanced trained soldiers pointlessly argue with each other, belittle and insult each other, point to stats negatively, assault any new ideas additions or game options and dis-respect the dead with their crotch.

If I wasn’t so darned respectful of people that put their lives on the line, I’d say “do you mean to say that’s out of place in the military?” But I’m too classy to say something like that.

I think it’s a great idea, and could be expanded upon further in future titles. And I rather like that we have a name for the standard multiplayer experience (War Games). Strictly speaking, every game mode in Halo is or has been multiplayer at some point; the standard multiplayer experience calling itself “Multiplayer” was a misnomer. I hates me some misnomers.

At first, I was a little hesitant about including multiplayer into the canon, but the way 343i is handling it and is really integrating the community makes me less and less worried every day. They’re definitely taking MM in the right direction, as it now has meaning and story to it, as well as providing the fun, action-packed multiplayer we all enjoy.

No, multiplayer having a place in the canon is the brilliance. The conduct in which individual Spartans act in the simulator is not. But, I’m confident there will be better systems in place to avoid the said players.

Commander Daedalos42!

This would be a cool idea. I like it.

A few weeks ago i posted a topic about this, and i found that during the campaign panel at SDCC a guy on the panel said “300 to 500” spartans. Nobody really took notice when i noticed so it got buried.
