include some Language settings

For me the language locked settings are a big fail.
I prefer my games in English, although the audio in halo 4 was in English the text was in Dutch.
It was really annoying because everything in Forge had another name and I couldn’t find anything.
I changed it to English by changing my region to the UK.

But I noticed on the forums that a number of players dislike the audio and that it can’t be changed.
So 343 make a option that the language can be changed to the original English settings and the settings where the game was bought.
Because I don’t want to play the next halo in German, Dutch or French.

I agree very much with this. While we have English audio on Halo 4, everything is written in Norwegian and they are using weird and non-spoken terms everywhere. I have heard other countries have the same problems.

Even on the Xbox.com they have written “Finn etter gamertag” which is completely wrong Norwegian. Directly translated “Finn etter spillere” means “Find after players”. It should have been “Søk etter gamertag”, which means “Search for gamertag”.

And “Skriv en Gamertag” also sounds weird (“Write one gamerag”). A better option would be “Skriv inn gamertag”.

It’s like they are using “google translate” to translate this.

To change the language of the text in the game, go to the XBOX DASHBOARD and change your region/language settings.

Took me a while to figure it out too. Like, a whole 5 min.

I already know. It doesn’t change the fact that my dashboard still isn’t free of the broken Norwegian. When changed to UK, only half of my dashboard turns to English, while the other half of my dashboard is still in broken Norwegian. And as we are talking about Halo Xbox one on the Xbox one, you can already safely say that this will work?

This forum is English only. I know that the translation is hilarious and outright broken and bad.

Take a look at what kind of translation you can find on Xbox.com:
http://gyazo.com/d8233c6c66cc5d71affdd0cc00d73fa1

Even though you try to change your settings, half of it is region-locked. Half of the text on the 360 will forever be on Norwegian unless you put in another DNS server and use an account which is not Norwegian.

Look guy, Im just trying to help. As I said In the previous post, change your settings both for Language and Region. (It probably went norwegian because the region is set to Norway.) Then Reboot your system and log in to your profile again. Sometimes it takes time before it takes effect.

There are many old topics about this. Like this one.

Youre welcome.

Du har misforstått posten min. Merk deg at det står “360” der.

I can change my Halo 4 to English, that is no problem. When it comes to Halo 4 it is only the translation to Norwegian which is bad.

I don’t have my Xbox where I am now so there is no way for me to check if the Xbox 360 dashboard language will indeed, turn purely English. As far as I remember I have all my settings switched to UK. At the moment, something on my dashboard is English, while other things are in Norwegian. I even remember contacting Xbox support regarding this matter and there were no way to turn your Xbox Dashboard completely English.

Edit:

I screenshot this from my friend over skype and checked his settings, which are put on English (Language) and United Kingdom (Locale).

In this tab everything is English.

In the next tab everything is Norwegian.

The Xbox dashboard is a mix of Norwegian and English.

Den eneste måten å gjøre Xbox 360’n fullt og helt Engelsk, er å ha en amerikansk DNS og bruker. Jeg vil ha min Xbox one fullt og helt Engelsk med Norsk bruker.

lol ok. sorry, I obviously thought we where talking about the in-game text.

I got that dashboard problem too. But didnt think too much of it, since I spend ≈ 1 millisecond/week there.

A friend of mine was setting up an xbox live account for his GF, and used google earth to find a random address in wolverhampton or something. That might have worked lol.

Yes, and this whole thread is pointed at the next Xbox. Xbox one.

What is written below this is basically the same as above, just a little more in depth.

I really wish for an international forum on this website

Got it. See the problem now.

I apply to change my vote from Something Different to Yes.

I plead temporarily stupid in the moment of the crime. lol

The problem is that they assigned the ingame text to your Country, not your chosen language.

That basicly caused me to lose one of my games as a friends who hadn’t played in a while forgot that all medals were in Finnish, his first minute was good, then he laughed at all the medal names because they sounded so idiotic.

I’d really like to have an explanation why Country was chosen to decide ingame text language than the actual Language setting on the Xbox. What were they thinking?

I set my location to UK to get the ingame text to English.

So they should for the next one have the Language setting choose the ingame language.

I was about to write a post about language settings and I found this. Totally agree with you. My problem conerns about two things: voice languages and text. Here in my country (Mexico) we have a mediocre, horrible voice dub for Halo 4 (lips are desynchronized, look on youtube). Microsoft decided to translate all of their games to the latin american spanish which is dubbed in Mexico, but honestly I hope they include some language settings to change the voice language in-game because the translations are a mess.

Also, I heard the problem of these transalations is because of the lack of enough space on the disc. I read in some random website that the size of the voice only is about 1GB-2GB for any standard game, that would make sense since Fable 3 has an optional DLC for latin america which is the UK english and wheighs around that size.

Finally, the text is not so annoying because we can change it from the dashboard. My main concern is the voice acting, because here in Mexico the last Halo game in english was Combat Evolved, and since then, we have received mediocre voice actings.

same here when it’s about german.
changing location & language in my dashboard-settings
just changes the text but not the voice.
and the voice in campaign, SpOps & even the guy
from matchmaking sound just horrible boring,
that’s why i would prefer just the original-voice actors.
or at least original-voices as a DLC, like mass effect 3 did.
