If in-fact this game is remade, I know it would be a bit far fetched to have the online experience relived. Although that would be the best move any company has ever made, it’s understandable why this would be avoided. Although what do you people think about a Local MP option? You know just redo some of the maps and make MP an option but only local/system link. This would allow people to relive the experience in some LANs or even on XBC with an updated graphics engine, how awesome would that be!? Just an idea.
I don’t really have anyone to play with so I would need the MM.
> I don’t really have anyone to play with so I would need the MM.
Well then maybe you should get some friends.
Their would be absolutely no point in doing what you’re saying. If they were going to redo the maps they might as well put it back online or put those maps in Halo 4. Do you not realize how much hate 343 would get if they said they were remaking maps but they would be local only? I for one would completely stop buying Halo games just for that simple fact. It wouldn’t make a shred of sense.

Well then I guess we would have to settle with no hope for any MP at all. They’re obviously not going to put it online, that would put a great divide in the community they’re trying to establish towards future Halo games. ← That’s why it makes sense

Halo 4 has such a low population already at this point in it’s life cycle. 343 might actually be smart to release original H2 multiplayer. I’m not going to say it’s going to have the greatest numbers but it would sure be played a bunch. Something to carry us over until Halo 5. I think the best solution would be for Halo 2 arcade to come free with every next gen xbox console. That would be the best thing microsoft could possibly ever do. Kinda like how most of the original 360’s released with Hexix except this would be much much better. Halo may make it’s way into some peoples lives that would have normally just avoided it.
You say…
“They’re obviously not going to put it online, that would put a great divide in the community they’re trying to establish towards future Halo games.”
Wouldn’t it make more sense that if they were going to remake maps have them for the current Halo title. This is why what you say makes no sense. Their are a handful of options when you count yours in and see which makes the most sense.
A)Remake Halo 2 multiplayer in HD and have it be playable online.
B)Remake original Halo 2 multiplayer just for the arcade.
C)Remake Halo 2 maps for current Halo whether it be Halo 4 or 5 to continue support towards that game.
D)Remake Halo 2 maps in HD and only have them playable via system link or split-screen.
It just wouldn’t make sense. Why waste the HD assets for it to be offline only?

This. Local multiplayer makes no sense at all. If you wanted to play Halo 2 local/SL it’s already possible on the old xbox or 360. Today live connects us all, and the friends i play with a scattered over the country.
I would hate to have Halo 2 maps in Halo 4, because i wan’t to play Halo 2 not Halo 4.
That said i can’t imagine 343 studios, or whoever will remake Halo 2, make the same mistakes as they did with Halo:CEA.

“I’m not going to say it’s going to have the greatest numbers but it would sure be played a bunch.” It would have most of the Halo population, and with this being a majority of people’s favorite game of all time, they would not care so much about what Halo 5 would have to offer.
“Wouldn’t it make more sense that if they were going to remake maps have them for the current Halo title.” No, because the current Halo title is not as enjoyable for most people.

I don’t think you get what I’m saying. They are more than likely not going to just put Halo 2 multiplayer back up for Xbox Live play. The CLOSEST thing we’re even likely to get, is an H2Anniversary, which will more than likely not include MP at all. I’m not saying completely remake the MP, I mean just like throw 6-7 maps that are available for system link play or local with an H2 Anniversary.

I obviously understand what you’re saying. You just wont admit that it doesn’t make sense. If they were going to remake some maps WHY NOT PUT THEM ON THE CURRENT HALO IF ANYTHING. It makes ZERO sense to do what you’re saying. The backlash would be so insane that I would literally not be able to visit the waypoint forums anymore. What you are suggesting will NEVER happen.
If you also think that the Halo 4 pop isn’t doing good then why wouldn’t it make sense to either A) kill it off with a H2 multiplayer reboot or B) Add these maps that you think would be suited well for split-screen and system link to Halo 4?
I LOVE HALO 2, I absolutely love it and I know many people that are the same way. I would honestly say I’m in an abnormal state of love for Halo 2. Maybe even one of the top 5 Halo 2 fans of all time. I might not be excellent at the game but I LOVE it. That being said I love Halo in general and I’m certain that H2A with full mp would not stop people from picking up the next gen xbox and Halo 5. As a person that loves Halo 2 as much as myself I could definitely see myself buying every Halo title from here on out regardless of if their was a H2 remake or not. It would be perfect to fill in the gap between now and Halo 5. I just need at least one more year of H2 on XBL for my life to be complete. I miss Halo 2 BTB with a passion.

I guess I’ll just do these through highlights and answers. It does make sense but you’re just arguing for the sake of arguing.
-
Why is this still an option in your head? I could care less if they put these maps into H4, I don’t just want the maps, I want the experience with the updated engine that they would implement if there was an H2A.
-
As there may very well be some backlash, I don’t think you understand that H2 multiplayer will never…ever…ever be back online again. So for this reason, if they remake H2 as in H2Anniversary…for the fans…include local multiplayer so that some people may be able to relive the experience on the graphics engine that they have upgraded. Ya know…for sentimental value. (<-Main point here)
3)Why would they want to kill off the population that they are currently trying to fix?… Oh and this, “Add these maps that you think would be suited well for split-screen and system link”…I think these maps that would be “well suited for split-screen and system link” would be well suited for a Halo 2, I’m not talking about the maps, here. I’m talking about the experience overall. Why are you telling me that they should just make these maps for Halo 4 when that has nothing to do with what I’m trying to get across here?
- Cool.
Do you not understand that it wouldn’t make sense in the modern era of gaming to release multiplayer that wasn’t suited for online? It’s not going to happen. It would(like I said many times now) cause complete backlash. If it was completely remade in HD just for the purpose of split and system link it would be a waste as we can already do that without the pretty graphics. Art teams aren’t going to take the time to up the graphics just so people can enjoy the maps through split and system link.
You also keep saying we will NEVER see Halo 2 online ever again. I’ll remember this post for if it ever happens. I’m not saying it’s going to happen but I have learned to never say never. It’s a possibility so I don’t know why you’re so keen on counting it out.

Yeah you can do that without the pretty graphics, but for sentimental value, this would be nice. <---------Still ignoring this? This is, after all, the whole idea I’m trying to get across here.
We will never see Halo 2 online again. Do you not know why it was taken down in the first place? I’m keen on this because I know it for a fact lol

I absolutely understand what you’re saying. I have LAN parties for Halo 2 practically every other weekend. I would most certainly benefit from having Halo 2 maps buffed in HD. Altogether though the idea isn’t a real good one for people that want a Halo 2 remake. People don’t want Halo 2 remade so they can continue to play it offline. People want a Halo 2 remake so they can enjoy online multiplayer again. Halo 2 multiplayer coming back online is far more possible to happen than remaking maps to play offline. 343 would get more than an earfull if that happened. They might as well not remake any maps if they are going to keep it offline.
“Do you not know why it was taken down in the first place?”
You say this like Halo 2 was the only game taken offline. They took it down because they supposedly wanted to upgrade the dash and add new features that would be otherwise impossible with original xbl still online. Why do you think Halo 2 was taken offline? To stop competing with Halo 3? To gain more 360 players?

You’re right they took all original Xbox titles offline. …none have returned. It would be A LOT of work for them to just slap H2’s multiplayer online, can you explain how you think they would do matchmaking? Do you think they can just turn Halo 2’s servers on? I’m not 100% sure, but without just creating new ones, I highly doubt it. I would love to see this as well, I just don’t see it happening either, as much as you don’t see them doing what I have suggested.
