Do you guys feel like winning or losing means nothing in halo 4
since you only get like 400 extra xp just for winning?
Since you get nothing for actually doing good or winning i feel
like the game gets repetitive really quick and gets a little boring.
I love the game but i feel like the playlist selections and no visible
ranking system based on true skill just ruins the game a bit.
I do play to have fun and to do well but when i do good and win and get nothing
to show for it then i feel like its almost pointless to play.
I really just can’t wait to play when the ranks come out and i can play
btb objective. Just little things ruin this game for me and i love halo so
much.
I had 80 thousand kills in reach and enjoyed it a little but i only have 6
thousand in halo 4 and I’m already getting bored of it.
Anyone else feel this way? I cant be the only one who feels like this.
I like winning. That’s just me though :3
whatever happen to playing a game because it was fun and not because of an identification of skill next to your name?
> whatever happen to playing a game because it was fun and not because of an identification of skill next to your name?
That way of gaming died out when it was determined that being competitive was the new better way to game.
/sarcasm
It’s been this way since Halo Reach.
The more I play, I really feel as if the skill matchmaking was a lie, too.
> whatever happen to playing a game because it was fun and not because of an identification of skill next to your name?
Whats so bad about having both huh?? I’m really tired of people saying this.
If your not into ranks then play for fun but if my fun is playing ranks for
hours and getting better myself then whats wrong with that?
My fun is ranks and your fun isn’t.
Tons of fans enjoy ranks for fun and many enjoy their casual experience.
Why is my definition of fun automatically judged bad because your fun
is different.
Halo 3 had it perfect with ranked and social.
My fun isn’t your fun get over it.

If you don’t have fun without ranks, then go play something else. I’m really not envying your ‘predicament’ and find it rather sad that you are incapable of having fun without it.
I’m entertained when I have friends to play with, I like the game a lot, but when I’m alone its pretty boring… Ranked playlist would help with this… I already got the armor I want so there is nothing really to work for.
> whatever happen to playing a game because it was fun and not because of an identification of skill next to your name?
Skill identification (in halo 3) gave a reason to get better, created a large competitive community, gave bragging rights (even though it is a meaningless video game rank, friends would still admire a high rank) and was just something to work for. Even COD recognized it was a good idea and put it in BLOPS2.
Isn’t winning it’s own reward? Or if not that, the well-earned right to -Yoink!- the air wildly is sheer joy of winning?

judged bad? it seems you took my post the wrong way, no i think you should get over it.

did you not even read my post. I enjoy playing game and do have fun
but its gets boring fast.
Like i said a few comments up. My definition of fun is different then yours.
My fun is playing ranked and getting better. Your fun is just a casual
experience.
Its really people like you that ruin hope for people that we can one day have a casual and competitive experience again.
Why did you waste your time trying to put me down when this is how i feel. I’m guessing you join in reach when halo became easy for everyone. I have the right to
express my feelings on a game i have loved for so long since halo ce lan.
Don’t reply if your just going to put people down. Expect to be treated how you
treat others.
Yeah without a skill ranking there doesn’t feel like as much incentive to win sometimes.
> Yeah without a skill ranking there doesn’t feel like as much incentive to win sometimes.
yeah i mean why win and do ok when i can get tons of kills and do amazing.
Winning does nothing imo. You get a little extra xp and that it.
You can brag for a couple seconds after a match but thats it.
I feel like ranks would obviously give you a reason to play and would make you
want to win to rank up.
I would rather do good now then win and do bad. I can support my team but i dont
have that same feeling winning a match in halo 2 or even 3 when my rank was on the
line.
anyone agree?

There is a true skill system in the works that should be released early next year. Hopefully, that will bring some competitive spirit back to Halo.
Halo 4 Incentives:
First week: “Wow I get to play this new game”
First month: “Nice. I have XX wins and X/X kill-death ratio.”
Second month: “Uh … I’ve maxed out another specialization. Cool (I guess).”
Third month: “…”
Fourth month …
Fifth month …
Sixth month …
I play for fun, not for the reward but it’s a bit boring because of lack of the maps and playlists.
