I’ve seen this and heard this about many games nowadays and it’s getting really annoying.

You play GAMES for the sake of entertainment. Correct? Asking what you should GET is absurd. You ARE getting it. It’s called entertainment. “What about accomplishments, rewards, armor mods, liveries (Forza), my color I want that’s different???”… It’s ALL nothing. No one is rewarded by playing a video game by anything but, and exclusively, entertainment value. Nothing is “accomplished” by playing a video game. Ever. Never ever. No one ever says, “Well, what do I get by watching Batman!!!” Nothing. Cause it’s entertainment. You shouldn’t get anything. What you get by playing Halo is time to yourself to exist outside of your normal day and have a good experience. Nothing more, nothing less. Stop with the, “Why play if I don’t get more stuff!”. What stuff? Stuff that doesn’t exist and is digital? It’s not ‘stuff’. It’s something granted to you by playing their game on a digital platform. Do you only play the games cause you WANT something? Or do you play cause you get that last double kill that solidifies the match and BANG game over baby! Wooo!!! It’s why I never use those rank boosts in MP, who cares, I just wanna have fun and be distracted for a bit (I have like 60+ rank boosts hanging, who cares). Outside of that, time to get back to powershell coding and delivering solutions for work and then… Let’s get all my other responsibilities in check. Halo is just a game after all. A great one at that and that’s why I love it so much. It’s a nice distraction. This idea of games nowadays OWE people something for ‘incentive’ is crazy. You already got it! You’re playing… a GAME! It doesn’t owe you anything. Be happy you got that. Jesus… You can’t even enjoy a product without it owing you something as well? It’s doing as advertised. You’re having fun because of it. Period. By that logic, my refrigerator owes me a chicken dinner tonight since it also works as designed: (TO GE Fridge: BBQ Chicken tonight please, man I ain’t got all day). Crazy. All my best memories are from Halo CE and guess what, I didn’t get anything for it… Just great memories of good times with friends. Isn’t that enough?? No screenshots recorded. No gamepley video. Just a fun time. A lot of people are missing the point. In my opinion.

Halo is great! Leave it at that. It’s an awesome distraction, but it’s not something to live on. Be fans, love it, enjoy the community, and now go mow the lawn.

What do I get for reading this thread?
People have different ways of playing, some like to constantly get things to play with or else it could get stale, it’s just opinion of that person and there’s nothing wrong with that. If not getting more reqs has no incentive meaning to them, then that’s their way of thinking about the game and why they choose not to play it anymore. It doesn’t apply to me tho I play because I enjoy it.

Well, what did you expect when you clicked on this thread? Something other than his opinion?
You get his (perfectly valid) opinion by clicking on this thread. This is exactly the mindset he’s referring to. You don’t get anything as a bonus by doing mundane things like video games or reading forum posts. You get exactly what is on the box: entertainment and discussion. Acting like this thread is useless because you “didn’t get anything from it” is pointless.
Incentive to play has always been a thing in Halo, be it new gamemodes coming, or maybe just %100ing the game, or maybe it’s just screwing around with friends in custom games. Me, I like to unlock stuff, but Halo 5 hoo boy, took the fun out of unlocks alright, I mean sure the Req system is good for Warzone weapons and vehicles, but keep the armor out of it for the love of god! Armor should be unlocked through 3 things:
- SR
Reason: This gives player a sense of meaning when playing arena or “matchmaking” as it was formerly called, giving them a reason to keep playing the game.
- Achievements
Reason: I can haz Recon?!
- Campaign
Reason: This idea came to me rather recently, not for completeing campaign but maybe have a few armor sets unlocked by grabbing collectables throughout the story on different difficulties, giving the players a reason to not only play through the campaign on every difficulty, but to explore each and every map to it’s fullest, making the experience that much more rewarding when you get an armor piece out of legendary or LASO.
