Inactivity in Theater Mode

This is an issue that involes both MCC and the Xbox console. When you are idle for a period of time your screen (no matter what game you are in, or if you are in dashboard) gets darker. This is a problem for when you want to record a gameplay and the game is 12 minutes long. If you are using Theater mode and want to record a game which lasts around 15 minute, after 10 minutes the xbox will notice you are idle and darken your screen, messing up your recording. It should not happened, since you are re-watching a gameplay MCC should “tell” the xbox you are not idle and that you are watching a gameplay.

It’s a minor problem that can cause major problems for Halo youtubers, or for people who just want to have the game recorded. Did this happen to anyone else?

I’m fairly certain you can adjust the idle timer in the xbox settings menu.

True, you can, but some people may not know or don’t care. That’s not the point. The point is that MCC should not consider you Idle when watching Theater mode

That idle timer is based on controller activity, not game activity, I’ve idled in campaign without pausing and even though the game was running it still brought up the idle screen.

It is controller activity, but why doesn’t it happen when you are watching Mixer or Youtube for example? You are not using your controller anymore. If it doesn’t happen with Mixer it shouldn’t happen with MCCs Theater Mode. True, one is basically a local recording, the other is not but there is no controller activity for either of them

An example where the idle-timer gets overridden in-game is with Rock Band 4. When playing vocals, you’re not using a controller. But, the game still manages to override the Xbox’s idle timer and keep the screen from going dark. So, it’s not just a feature limited to apps. Games can do it too.

But when ‘playing vocals’ you must be giving the game some type of input. If it’s a mic - then there you go.
I’m not super familiar with the game, but it must be receiving an input either from a mic or Kinect.

When the game first launched, it did dim the screen if you were singing since there were no button presses on the controller. That was a bug they patched pretty quickly. So, no, at least at that time it did not treat microphone input as controller input.
