Inaccessible elitist & unplayable for non experts

They’ve made a game for ‘elite’ players only. I wouldn’t go so far as to say I suck at fps games in multiplayer but I find this unplayable. I’m very disappointed after being a fan of halo 1,2,3 etc and really enjoying it. Yes all you ‘elite’ players may love having no aim assist so why don’t they make an ‘elite player mode’ where all you fine gentlemen can play each other and leave us mere mortals to have a bit of fun on a Friday night? For the first time ever I’ve returned a game not because I disliked it just because they made it inaccessible. Shame on you most of your paying customers will be noobs like me. Get halo back to where it used to be and out of the hands of the 24/7 gamers.
Im not saying they needed a full on aim bot here but at least as much as they had in previous games

I now welcome all comments from elite players telling people like me that suck at halo to go play COD.

Warzone!

You are spot on.

ummm you must really suck at fps

this game is noob freindly

I’m feeling exactly the same. I played Halo 3, Reach, Halo 4 and MCC and i think i was always good in the multiplayer, not a top player but a good one above average. Now i suck completely in Arena. and because the ranking system is complete -Yoink-, i still get diamond or onyx. because of that, i’m only playing warzone, not any more arena. but i dont enjoy warzone like BTB in previous entries and i think, i will never enjoy it as much as i enjoyed Arena in the previous Halos.

For me 343 has ruined Arena and now that i dont have fun in MP anymore, i think i’m done with Halo overall.

For me it’s not so much the aim assist (I find aiming in this game to be just fine) it’s the ranking system.

I do extremely well for a few matches, then it places me in Diamond and instantly start getting put in matches where I have to play like my life depends on it.

You get punished for doing well in this game. That’s why I usually just play until I get my rank, then I play Warzone or a different game.

It’s not fun having to be a try hard every match.

I don’t understand this line of thinking. The game is still, at its core, the same experience. Why should they bring down the bar so bad players can feel rewarded? Try aspiring to be better instead.

Really? I’m terrible and am having a lot of fun in multiplayer. There are a few controller mashing matches, but I’ve been in mostly even matches. Guess its all just a matter of personal opinion.

Have you practiced playing in campaign? If you can kill AI, you can still be a very valuable contribution to your team in Warzone.

Also, if you play enough placement games in Arena, and you really do struggle as much as you say, it should put you down in Bronze with other people of the same level.

But what if he only gets to play once a week?

Guys anyone outside of the US is feeling the same. We maybe have dedicated servers but they are mainly in the US giving them a massive advantage.

A few threads on here from UK, EU and Australia regarding this. I could occasionally win a game of FFA in previous titles but really struggling in Halo 5. I was never a great player, in fact quite pants at times but it does take the fun away a bit if you feel you can never win and we will probably find we drift away from Halo 5 a lot quicker than 3, Reach, ODST, 2 and CE if you played those.

Maybe Microsofts new Data Centre in Ireland will help in the future but for Halo 5 it will be too late.

To all the people saying ‘I must be really bad’ and that it’s ‘noob friendly’ please re-read my post as you missed the point. Looking at other posts I’m not alone with these problems. I’m not attacking the game, I just think they’ve engineered it to cater for ultra competitive players. Simply put its much harder to aim and actually hit something now. I’ve gone back and played the older halo games and there is no comparison with the targeting difficulty. Now I find myself as cannon fodder match after match with this impossible learning curve. It’s just not fun and isn’t that why we play games?

Lol… I will not tell you to leave, i’ll tell u to try to get better, see it as a challenge. I like this game in the way that a lower skilled player will not win easily, I’m saying that, me being the lower skilled player, its a challenge, its fun.

BTW, Halo CE had a very similar aim assist value. As you mentioned you liked it, I am inclined to remind you of that little fact you may have forgotten.

To the OP, the first thing you should do would be to play the campaign and get a feel for how the game controls against AI. This should be the first step for any “noob” coming into a new Halo game. Also judging from your service record I don’t think you have played enough games to really feel the game out. you really need to get 10+ games into a playlist before you start wondering if it’s for you. The problem you are probably having is you are still in the placement games and those put you up against a wide variety of different ranked players to see how you perform.

In short play the campaign and finish the placement games and see where you rank.

No aim assist this guy says, lol he must have never picked up a sniper yet.

Yes, this game has a wider skill gap than the last few installments. Yes, this is for the benefit of competitive players. Yes, if you stick with it for more than three or four weeks then you will eventually adjust to the differences. Yes, you can ease yourself through the adjustment period by playing more warzone and campaign. Yes, like you I feel completely out-classed. Yes, I’ve felt this way before and that’s how I’ve learned that it’s unreasonable to expect that I be competitive right out of the box on day one. Yes, you are right to feel overwhelmed. No, you are wrong to give up.

Well I’m not an Elite player I’m an older gamer who doesn’t have a problem at all with how thing’s are working out. So glad FFA is ranked kinda upset ffa a.k.a rumble pit M.C.C wasn’t ranked. I’m Casual enough to want to win when I play and don’t get upset at loss… yes that’s me still playing when almost everyone on my team has quit wich hasn’t really happened in H5

I am absolutely horrible as far as MP goes with Halo 5. I have never thought its because the game is geared towards more elite players, i just thought it was cause I suck. Maybe it depends on how much effort your putting in. I definitely feel like there is a gap between elite players and me, but I never thought it was intentional. I dont play enough to be super good, or even average. The only problem I have had is the placement seems kind of off sometimes, but honestly I could really care less, again though thats just me.

I am definitely having to put a lot more effort in, which drains some of the fun. However, I don’t think the game is completely inaccessible. It does get tiring more quickly though, which can decrease the fun and make for no marathon gaming sessions. Still, don’t give up. Just play 3 or 4 games of Warzone, then take a break. Small doses of this game are still fun.

the game has aim assist. just not a complete lock on like halo reach and 4 had.
