So I´ve had this thought going in my head for a while. The Halo franchise can´t go on forever. The end is probably a long way off, but it will end, one way, or the other. The fanbase might dry up, the executives at Microsoft might want to focus on a different IP as the market changes, MS might sell the entire Xbox division, and 343i and the IP is liquidated, etc. So I´ve been thinking a lot about how I think the franchise should, and how I want it to end, and I keep coming back to Halo Reach.
The ending in Halo Reach was controversial within Bungie, with a split within the team going almost right down the middle, according to Marcus Lehto. Half of the team wanted Noble Six to live, half of them wanted him to die, and it was a very heated debate. In the end, Noble Six died, and we got the most powerful ending to any Halo game. A simple, but futile objective: Survive.
And I know in my heart of hearts, I want the same powerful ending for Chief. I don´t want the series to end with him alive, and I don´t really see how he can live a life without conflict. So I want him to die. I don´t know how, or for what cause, but when that final credits roll, I want Chief to be no more.
Question is, do you?
Quoting somebody from the six hour live stream on 10/26/2015. “If you kill Master Chief, I will end you”.

I genuinely lol´d.
That said though, I definitely don´t want him to die before the series end. If I have to play the final Halo game as dry-as-a-cracker Mr. Locke, I will cut someone.
The best way for this to go down is him sacrificing himself to resurrect the IsoDidact via an unnamed human’s genesong to fight against Cortana-Bias and the Flood-led Guardian fleet…
For ‘unnamed human’ read Noble Six.
I think that the Chief will end up leading the UNSC by replacing Lord Hood, eventually leading to better cooperation between the UNSC and ONI because then both will essentially be run by Spartan IIs.

Chief already turned down the offer from Hood to replace him. He mentioned that ‘the Admiral’ didn’t have the same ring to it.
I think in the end the chief will give his life to save humanity. it will be one of those moments were any other human or spartan would have died but failed, but the chiefs willpower will allow him to survive just long enough to win. The kind of death any spartan would want.
