In Regards to the Title Update.

Are they seriously pushing their originally planned Title Update for early January all the way to late February?

What do they expect me to do until then?

Yes I will play the Spartan Ops Episodes since they are effectively separate from the MP experience, yes I will test out the Forge Maps briefly to make sure to address bugs and exploits (which they should have been doing in house… what do they even do?). Yes I will play Grifball since it has nothing to do with weapon balance or glitches and to show my support for alternative game modes for people who enjoy fun (as well as level up my Gravity Hammer commendation while I can!). I will definitely show my support for Team Doubles so it can stay in as long as SWAT has so far.

But to ask for me to wait until late February for something that is too much. All they are doing is dazzling us with features that should have been in since launch, stalling for time until they can finish the job they should have already done.

I definitely shouldn’t feel pressured into sticking in there to support extra-curricular activities in Halo 4 when the weapon balance hasn’t even been fixed or hasn’t even been addressed, that the TU has been delayed a month and a half and that we are expected to give them another chance at fixing the game when so many players have left it for dead already.

Just what were they thinking.

I don’t want your apologies, I don’t want your regrets, and I don’t want your excuses.

Either fix the game as soon as possible and convey the urgency, get rid of the attitude concerning communication between the players you ‘value’ so much, and be done with it.

Where did they ever say that the next TU would be in early January? At most they said “Early 2013” and anything in the first quarter counts as early 2013.

You have no idea how long it takes to test bugs and balance issues and other options, especially if fixing one thing causes 7 other bugs to appear. They are working as fast as they can, but it’s better to have it done right than rush it and end up with a sloppy mess. That is what happened (kind of) with the launch. MS rushed the launch to get it out before the holiday season, so things fell through the cracks.

No one is forcing you to play the game. Play something else if you hate it so much.

^ Just to let you guys know, bulletins out. TU is coming in February.

They never said it will be in January, I have no idea where you got that information from.

They never said January! That was a rumor. Or post their quote where they said January.

> We have not announced the release date of the next TU, so any dates you may have heard are (incorrect) speculation only. As Zafro817 noted, I will share the general expected time frame in today’s Bulletin.

That was posted 6 hours ago, here.

People think early 2013 means January.

Forgive me if I thought that the TU would be January, since for all intents and purposes it should be since this content that is being delivered would be in good timing but the way they conveyed it when they announced that there would be a TU at all it would be delivered with all the content they are delivering.

Of course if they had any sort of compassion they would have stated it was coming out in late February to begin with instead of the communication silence they instill on us.

Does anyone have anything to say about the other things mentioned in my post or is the precise date seem to be the only thing wrong with it?

I would like to know what this title update contains. I think Ensemble studios did a great job of listening to their players and they often visited the forum and talked to the gamers. People with complaints often just want to be heard or understood.

If they knew that it would take until late February to get it done, they would have told us. They tell us things as they know them. With Halo 3, I’m not sure Bungie told us they were even working on a title update…which came out 5ish months after launch. Here it is 2 months later and we have 2 title updates, with knowledge of a large third one on the way.

With how much change people are asking for, there is no way they could know how soon it could be ready and many people worked over the holidays just so they could have an estimate. Give them a break for crying out loud.

As for the rest of your post…it was mostly just you blathering on about how you will play the playlists…

They can do all sorts of forge testing in-house as you suggested, and probably already have, to make sure things were at least semi balanced. Stuff like making sure Blue doesn’t always spawn on high ground with power weapons out the yin yang, while Red spawns in the open, with nothing. Large scale testing of the maps by players expedites the process so they can get them into MM sooner. Things like the BS reload glitch, superthrow, and map holes (complex for instance) were found by players after the game launched. It’s much easier to let us test the maps so they can focus on the TU and updates to the maps. The forums will likely explode with comments about maps once the 21st hits.

The weapon balance isn’t THAT bad, you just need to know how to counter. The maps generally have plenty of cover so you can work your way up to DMR users easy enough. If you get killed out in the open, that’s your own fault. The rest is just accuracy. As far as the boltshot goes, sure it should just pop shields and take a bit of health, but learn to counter and it’s not that bad.

They aren’t going to tell us what exactly is being fixed in the TU since any glitches or exploits would get abused leading up to the TU. We do know that it will cover sandbox and balance issues. They are also working on some customs options, but those each require a lot of work and testing so we dont know what will be changed.

If you want something to do until the update play something else thats what I am doing. I am playing Hitman, Skyrim, and Fallout 3. There is more games than just Halo as much as I love it the game right now needs some serious TLC but hopefully they can fix some stuff with the update.
