I’ve been playing since the release. I still don’t get is the REQ system. Specifically, how to permanently unlock cool stuff. Since the game released, I thought buying Gold Packs was the only way to get the cool stuff. I was told that’s not the case. I need to buy Bronze packs first, then Silver and finally Gold. I understand that now. Every 2 or 3 Bronze packs I still get Common Certifications (helmets, armors, etc). If I buy a Silver pack, I also get Common Certifications. So, when do I need to stop buying Bronze packs and focus only on Silver and Gold packs?
when you get lots of weapon certs and common armor. This increases your chances of getting rare stuff from gold packs.
I don’t bother with bronze at all, even for the commons. I’ll be the guy who buys 3 in a row and gets no unlocks. Silvers are guaranteed 2 permanents and I’ll be buying them until I get all the rares.
So basically until hell freezes over and the sun dies.
If you have lots of the more common REQs left it just means buying Gold is more likely to give you lower tier REQs because there are more of them left for you to unlock. The idea behind buying bronze first, is it’s the cheapest way to fill out all the common rated REQs. Then you can move up to silver, and since you’ve filled in all the commons, you can now only get uncommon and rare. Meaning you’re on average getting more for your money because those 2 permanent unlocks can’t be used up on common stuff. Similarly, once you’ve unlocked all the uncommon and rare stuff, you can start getting the most for your money on gold, because you’re guaranteed to get only ultra-rare or legendary stuff. Buying gold packs early can give you some great stuff right away, but more than likely it will not. If you’re looking to get the coolest stuff fastest, going for Gold is the way to do it, but it’s a gamble. You might get something awesome in a few packs, you might spend a ridiculous amount of points on items you could have gotten twice as fast with silver.
If you’re going for the work-your-way-up approach (bronze to silver to gold) you buy bronze until you get a refund card. I haven’t myself so I don’t know exactly what it looks like, but I’ve heard that once you have all commons, the bronze packs will give you a card you can sell for 750 points (basically some of your money back because they couldn’t give you something permanent) once you see that, move onto silver. Once you get refunds from those, move to gold. That’s the least risky way to unlock everything.

3 in a row with no unlocks isn’t all that unheard of. When I first started buying bronze I bought like 20 and only got maybe 6 unlocks. It was pretty lousy. I tried again later and bought around 20 in a row and got like 17 unlocks. It’s not going to be utterly consistent, because that’s how randomness works, but in the long run it seems to balance out to around 75%

Bronze will start to (occasionally) give you 500rp cards when you have all the common unlocks. This card is automatically refunded so you can’t “sell” it back as you already receive the points back. If you have all the commons, you don’t necessarily get 500 rp for every bronze pack, but they come in the place of permanent unlocks you would have otherwise gotten.
I am currently on the silver phase. I still have all of my war zone bundle premium packs that I am saving once I finish silver so that each pack will give me 3 ultra rare to legendary unlocks when I finally use them.
So I need to keep buying Bronze packs until I stop getting Certifications and instead start getting “RP Refunds”? I just thing it’s kind of a waste of RP because so far, like I said before, I have to buy 3 or 4 Bronze packs to get 1 Certification. Do you think I should jump already into Silver?
I have 100% completion for REQs, so this is what you do.
- Do not buy bronze. - Buy silver only until you max out / receive REQ point cards. - Buy gold packs.
If you want to achieve completion fast, SELL ALL WEAPONS, VEHICLES AND BOOSTS. I know it sounds crazy but I don’t play warzone a lot, so those items didn’t hold value to me keeping. Also, always make sure you have some sort of RP Bonus or Jackpot equipped before playing a game.
Hey sorry its a late post but i was buying alot of bronze packs in the beginning. Then i knew it had nothing to offer when it started giving me 500 req points in place of perment unlocks. Now im buying silver until my uncommon to rare permanents unlocks are finished. Once youre at gold, youll have way higher chances of scoring ultra rare, legendary or mythic items.
I think that buying Bronze to get most of the commons out of the way is fine. Trying to get every common cert with Bronze will indeed take a while because of not always getting a permanent unlock, but you should still at least try to get some out of the way. In the process you will at least (hopefully) stockpile some Plasma Pistols and Railguns…
Silver is still overall the most effective deal of the bunch though.
