Personal thoughts on the future of Halo 4 (Optional):
Halo has grown as a game were quantity matters more than quality. But lets remember how awesome CE multiplayer was, all you had were some maps and gametypes and 1 or more friends to play with, but you could always agree on what to play, and everyone had fun. Then came Halo 2 with Xbox Live and customs were awesome, and so was online because pretty much everything was ranked (expet for some exeptions), therefore the quality of games was good. This game was pretty much aimed equaly for casuals as well as for competitive. Nowadays we have Reach were all expet one playlist is ranked, and we have a bunch of playlists that some could as well fit one playlist, making the search times faster. As for customs, cR killed them, because all kids care about are getting rank that means nothing and armor that is just visual. Now, if my complains above bored you, don’t worry, the thread above won’t, because I’ll come to an idea that will make Halo 4 a game were less in more. My aim is to make Halo 4 be like, there’s only one kind of gameplay, but the way you play it is yours to choose Couldn’t think of a better title, but one doesn’t judge a book by its title or cover; intead by its content
Anyway, what I mean by taking the Phych profile very literally, is for it to affect the experience a lot, and at he same one to give all kinds of players the Halo 4 multiplayer experience they wish to have.
New Phych Profile
Every of the 7 things from the phych profile will be visible in the lobby, and the party leader is the only one to decide (party members are able to see the changes) what options suits their or your playstyle.
(Every choise made, drasticaly affects on the gameplay experince)
Here’s what I have in mind:
- Hopper: Competitive/Community/Weekend
- Playlist (Competitive):Slayer/MLG/SWAT/Snipers/Doubles/Big Squad Battle/Head to Head
Playlist (Community): Grifball/Infection/Race - Game Type: Slayer/Objective
- Motivation: Good Time/Winning
- Teamwork: Lone Wolf/Team Player
- Chattiness: Quiet/Chatty
- Tone: Rowdy/Polite
Now an explanation of the options above:
-
When you press the hopper, a window pops and it will have info on what the hoppers contain.
-
When you have chosen the hopper, then you press the playlist option, and a window will pop showing you info on the playlist(s). EDIT: Community Playlists, cannot be altered by the other options, so they can’t be turned into ranked or FFA.
-
When you have chosen the playlist, now you want to choose the Game Types you wish to appear in the playlist. The default will be slayer, but if you change to “objective” the name of the playlist you have chosen might change to “objective”. So if you chose slayer, but want 4 vs 4 objective, the slayer playlist turns into objecive. Another example would be having BSB but then choosing only objective gametypes to appear, then the BSB would become BSO, Big Squad Objective.

Here comes the reason why there are NOT Ranked playlists. It’s because all CAN become ranked if you wish, exept for action sack lol. You’ll get a 1-50 ranking after your name when you choose “winning”, and a less competitive ranking sytem when you choose “good time”.
-
And then here comes the reason to why none of the playlist contian “Team” in them. It is because you’ll have all the freedom to play them as FFA. Ever wanted to play a 16 player FFA online? well, now you can, but only one person based vehicles.
-
This can’t be chosen, you either have your mic plugged (goes to Chatty) or you have it unplugged or in party chat (Quiet), and the game will search for players that are chatty or quiet like you.
-
Now, the game doesn’t record every word you say, but if you like to trash talk and to get trash talked, then rowdy is for you. But if you’re a polite player that doesn’t trash talk often (or never), then polite is for you.
This is pretty much the future of online gaming;; being able to choose the experince you want, so discuss and please, keep this thread alive, to see if 343i can take this into consideration <3
