So anyone remember back in Halo Reach when the alien races in the Covenant Empire spoke no english and stuck to their native languages? And again in Halo 4 as it was considered “forbidden to speak the human tongue” in Jul Mdama’s Covenant faction? Was wondering if you believe they will do that again in Halo Infinite since it appers to be focusing more on Cortana and the Created and less on other races that made up the Covenant. Since the other alien races likely may not have as much of an intimate role like they did in Halo 5 (being as you had more concrete interactions with them making it necessary for them to speak english for the player’s convience), it would be cool to keep them distant and give them back their native tongues again in-game, it just feels more natural to me when I play it and can’t understand them being as they’re not human. Plus at one point, didn’t 343 Industries use a dog for voice acting? I can imagine some of it being used for the Unggoys since they were said to have dog-like mentalities.

Yes please. Aliens speaking in their native tongue adds depth in my opinion to the universe. But along these lines , I actually have a desire for the aliens to seem more alien…? In appearance ? For some reason I felt like the elites, brutes, jackals, and grunts took on a much more grounded human like or animal like appearances that we are all too familiar with. I feel like they should take on a more alien feel. How they move , how they look… I always felt they looked most alien in their first appearances. The elites in CE, the brutes in halo 2…
i dont want them to be too different they still have an identity … but just the small things that count. Elites should seem more predatory yet … elegant.
brutes also more predatory , and also more bear bones fighting style.
even just stance alone can go a long way. Having them stand up right like humans doesn’t seem right. Hunched back works … or even in a somewhat braced position.
but to answer the post yes I’d like that they use their original dialects and languages. Except when communicating with the player.
Yeah but they can’t scream “not again” if you do that.

XD honestly I was thinking about that when I was doubting myself… grunt banter is hilarious. Maybe we can let grunts speak English for what ever reason they do.
Aliens don’t actually speak English. They speak their native tongue that we get to hear through our translators. I think we did not understand the Halo 4 aliens because they spoke some dialect and in Reach, we didn’t have the Covenant language translated yet.

The only time there “translators” on Mjolnir armor was with Black Team’s prototype Mark VIs. We didn’t understanf them in Halo 4 and Reach because they wanted to distant them (developmental wise) and it was forbidden to speak the human tongue at the time (in-universe). In Halo 2 and 3, other humans understood the sangheilis just fine. And in Halo 4, Henry Glassman couldn’t understand Jul until he said “progress” in English. Vale had to translate for Fireteam Osiris a few times in Halo 5’s campaign also. Also it was explained that since Jul lost the promethean support, his covenant spoke English because they cared less about the taboos due to losing respect in Jul.

If only Black team had translators, what about the Halo 2 scene and Cortana’s finger snapping?

I did say “on Mjolnir armor.”
