In Depth Guide to the Advantage of Pioneer XP

This will be a in depth guide about the advantages of completing the Pioneer Specialization before the others, other than simply saying “You get more XP the rest of the way through”.

From my research, I’ve concluded that it’s between a 15-20% increase in experience earned. So I will base everything off of 15% so to not exceed expectations.

Once you hit Sr50, the next eighty levels will be require the same amount of XP per ten levels.

Level XP requirements are as follows:
NOTE: No double XP will be factored in.

SR-X1 - 11,730
SR-X2 - 12,760
SR-X3 - 18,240
SR-X4 - 29,320
SR-X5 - 39,360
SR-X6 - 47,740
SR-X7 - 54,960
SR-X8 - 60,470
SR-X9 - 63,820
Entire Specialization: 338,400

Since it’s the first one you must complete, you wont be able to use it until you reach Sr-60, so we will start from there.

Experience Breakdowns

War Games with Maximum Profit

Game Completion: 1785 (Playing a match beginning to end will earn this much XP, always)
Victory: 446 (Earning the victory will provide this XP)
Score: X (For this case, we will use the max amount possible, 750)
Total: 2981 Experience per game (not including commendations or challenges that were completed that game)

So we have a maximum total of 2,981 XP per game.
Therefore:
338,400(Entire specialization)/2,981 (Max xp per game)= 113.51 games
Estimate 10 minutes /game
113.52games x 10min./game = 1135.2 minutes
Convert to hours divide by 60
1135.2min. / 60 = 18.9hr
=19 Hours per Specialization (Without Fast Track Mod)

Now we factor in the Fast Track Mod.

Still have a maximum total of 2,981 XP per game. However, we will factor in the 15% XP increase:
2951(original max) x .15(15%) = 442.7 (additional XP gain)
2981 + 443 = 3394 XP per match with FT Mod

338,400(Entire specialization)/3394 (Max xp per game)= 99.7games
Estimate 10 minutes /game
99.7games x 10min./game = 997 minutes
Convert to hours divide by 60
997min. / 60 = 16.6hr
=16.6 Hours per Specialization (With Fast Track Mod)

113.52 - 99.7 = 13.8 Games Saved per Specialization.
19 - 16.6 = 2.4 Hours Saved per Specialization.

By acquiring the Fast Track Mod first, you save a whopping 16.8 Hours throughout all seven Specializations playing exclusively in War Games.

Spartan Ops with Maximum Profit

Game Completion: 2295 (Playing a match beginning to end will earn this much XP, always)
Victory: 3680 (Earning the victory will provide this XP)
Total: 5975 Experience per game (not including commendations or challenges that were completed that game)

So we have a maximum total of 5,975 XP per game.
Therefore:
338,400(Entire specialization)/5,975 (Max xp per game)= 56.7 games
Estimate 8 minutes /game
56.7games x 8min./game = 453.6 minutes
Convert to hours divide by 60
453.6min. / 60 = 7.56hr
=7.56 Hours per Specialization (Without Fast Track Mod)

Now we factor in the Fast Track Mod.

Still have a maximum total of 5,975 XP per game. However, we will factor in the 15% XP increase:
5975(original max) x .15(15%) = 896.25 (additional XP gain)
5975 + 896 = 6871 XP per match with FT Mod

338,400(Entire specialization)/6871 (Max xp per game)= 49.25games
Estimate 8 minutes /game
49.25games x 8min./game = 394 minutes
Convert to hours divide by 60
394min. / 60 = 6.56hr
=6.5 Hours per Specialization (With Fast Track Mod)

56.7 - 49.25 = 7.45 Games Saved per Specialization.
7.56 - 6.5 = 1.06 Hours Saved per Specialization.

By acquiring the Fast Track Mod first, you save a whopping 7.42 Hours throughout all seven Specializations playing exclusively in Spartan Ops. NOTE: This would be the definition of “grinding”.

In conclusion, getting the Pioneer’s “Fast Track” armor mod from the beginning has its obvious perks. Now you can understand the significant advantage of a small increase in gained experience. Feel free to correct any number hiccups and please post your feedback, and tell me if my friend and I did a good enough job to earn your thanks.

Thank you guys for the effort and break down of stats. I am one of the many people that overlooked the advantages of this Specialization and is now too late to take full advantage of it.

At least now I can let my friends know about this so they can pick Pioneer first. It does make quite a difference especially for those who do not have double xp tokens.

Great analysis. I never plan on using Fast Track myself though as this game will last me for a couple of years or so, and I do not want to reach SR-130 so quickly. I would like something to strive for as long as possible.

So is it 2951 or 2981?

> So is it 2951 or 2981?

Fixed, Thank you.

Solid informative post, thanks to you sir.

You can basically get 10,000 Xp playing Spartans Ops in MM per game.
Edit: are you sure the max you can get for finishing a game is roughly 6k I wonder if something’s up with my game ‘_’

Thank you for validating my choice of Pioneer at 50 :stuck_out_tongue:
I don’t mind if I reach 130 sooner than later, because that way I can have laser focus on the commendations. It actually works out great: get spec perks quickly so I can actually use them to get commendations and forget about XP, which is worthless after 130 anyway.

This is great, really nice job.

imo i’ll take the 19 hours of gameplay though. I see it as it was in Halo 3 -more gametime = more improvement, experience (not XP), faster reflexes, and all other obvious benifits. Because There are those 130’s out there that are just the number and there are those 130’s out there that play like a 130.

Anyhow, thanks for going in depth on this. Definetly going to share with my homies.

Thanks for the feedback everyone. We honestly appreciate it =) <3

The max xp for Spartan Ops right now is around 7700 because the re-runs are on legendary.

> The max xp for Spartan Ops right now is around 7700 because the re-runs are on legendary.

I’m getting like 9 000 a game.

While this is very good, I feel from personal experiance that is actually inacurate. Among other things the Pioneer specialization actually requires about 500-1000 extra experience around level 4. As for per game XP either it is performance based or some other factor is taken into account but I found that for 8 min. game of SpOps gave me ~ 7100 XP.

Game completion: 25xx (cant recall the exact numbers)
Victory bonus: 35xx
Fast Track: 11xx

Regardless of mode I also noticed that FT gave about 1/2 game completion or 1/3 victory bonus XP. As a note FT and Dbl XP do NOT stack, however Dbl XP does work in SpOps (or atleast used to) and can net you 13,000 XP per game. However this is both well done and signifies that if you want to complete all of the specializations for whatever reason quickly Pioneer is your prime choice for SR51.

pretty sure

sweet im working on getting FT now

Don’t you need to have the Pioneer specialization equipped the whole time in order to get its benefits?

Damn this a good analysis of the Fast Track perk. Good job!

> Don’t you need to have the Pioneer specialization equipped the whole time in order to get its benefits?

Yeah It needs to be equipped in the loadout to gain XP.

> > Don’t you need to have the Pioneer specialization equipped the whole time in order to get its benefits?
>
> Yeah It needs to be in your current loadout to work.

Ah, so it’s finishing the Pioneer specialization that then unlocks the Fast Track perk?
This all makes much more sense to me now.

> Don’t you need to have the Pioneer specialization equipped the whole time in order to get its benefits?

To get the full effect yes. However you can use it for part of a match and then use something else. The bonus xp is only applied to when during that match you used it
