Improving the Voting System

Personally, I would like to see a mixture of Halo 3’s Veto System and Reach/4’s Voting Options depending on the playlist.

> *-If it is a tie it will pick between the tied gametypes randomly. If it is none of the above a new round of voting will start with no none of the above option.
>
> **-If it is a tie it will pick between the tied gametypes randomly. Note you can end up seeing the same maps again but not paired up with the same gametypes. So while you can’t get Infinity Slayer on X you can still get Legendary Slayer on X.

Voting in Slayer

First round of voting(Let’s use Halo 4’s Slayer as an example):
-Infinity Slayer on X
-Slayer Pro on Y
-Legendary Slayer on Z
-None of the Above

Second round of voting:
-Infinity Slayer on XX
-Slayer Pro on YY
-Legendary Slayer on ZZ

**

Voting in Objective
The way the some gametypes are paired together in slots are made by how similar they play with one another. This also implies that some gametypes will return.

First round of voting:
-CTF/1 Flag/Assault/1 Bomb(More weighting on regular CTF and Assault) on X
-Extraction/Territories on Y
-KotH/Oddball on Z
-None of the Above

Second round of voting:
-CTF/1 Flag/Assault/1 Bomb(More weighting on regular CTF and Assault) XX
-Extraction/Territories on YY
-KotH/Oddball on ZZ

**

Voting in BTB
First round of voting:
-Slayer on X
-CTF/1 Flag/Assault/1 Bomb(More weighting on regular CTF and Assault) on Y
-Dominion/Extraction on Z
-None of the Above

Second round of voting:
-Slayer on XX
-CTF/1 Flag/Assault/1 Bomb(More weighting on regular CTF and Assault) on YY
-Dominion/Extraction on ZZ

**

Voting in Rumble Pit
First round of voting:
-Slayer on X
-Oddball on Y
-KotH on Z
-None of the Above

Second round of voting:
-Slayer on XX
-Oddball on YY
-KotH on ZZ

**

I touched on these playlists because these are the major playlists they we usually see at launch. Any other playlists would depend on what they are and have in it.

Now where does Halo 3’s Veto come into play? For the competitive playlists like Team Throwdown or something like the Infinity Challenge or Global Championship we would use this to force player to not be too comfortable on one map or gametype.

The first choice would be Slayer/CTF/etc on X. If the majority vetos then it is Slayer/CTF/etc on Y and the game will start.

Thoughts?

I’m fine with that.

The none of the above option can be nice to have back, and I really don’t like how it picks the first one in the event of a tie. Random will be good.

I want to see how Halo 3 had it, much more variety.

Yeah, and if it ties, than Have a vote off between the two.

While I’d rather have the Halo 3 Veto System, I’ll compromise for your idea.

Honestly, my biggest complaint is not being able to change my vote. I more often vote to avoid a particular gametype/map than to get one. So if I don’t like choice 1, but I’m equally fine with choices 2 and 3, which do I vote for? I could vote for choice 2, but then if after more votes are cast choice 3 only requires one more vote to beat choice 1, choice 1 wins and I have to play a map/gametype that I hate.

Because of this, many people (myself included) sometimes wait until the last few seconds to snipe the votes, and it’s not a fun experience.

I understand your point of not being able to change your vote but its to stop people griefing by changing at the last second. However this could be stopped by making the countdown still not appear like in halo 4 but it makes no noise either so predicting when it will end would be more difficult thus allowing people to change their vote.

Since some game modes are often passed up due to maps being put with them that dont work well I purpose that you get to select the gametype first (if there is more than one in that playlist.) then pick the map.

The veto system is good for variety so instead none of the above changes to random so there is more map variety (this would work for both the map and gametyoe vote.)

And if there is a draw instead of making it definite that one wins a second round of voting with new voting options occurs (or it turns as though the random vote won)

Moa, Sitri, and I discussed all 3 of these points and it was best to limit the amount of voting made(one round for gametypes and then another for maps) along with randomly picking one of the tied maps. People voted for that map they should be able to play that map.

I prefer the votes being locked in.

Gets rid of the annoying switching people do, back and forth and back and forth. Or the last minute change right when you think you’ll get the map you want.

Fair enough remove the gametype voting if it takes too long. The other point you made didnt make much sense, if the option with the moat votes wins then it is chosen, however if a draw occurs instead of being biases to one vote option due to its positioning a random vote option is picked instead, if thats any clearer.

That was the point that I wanted to make. Whether you can change your vote or not, last-minute changes will happen.
