Just curious how people would improve the AI on a gameplay standpoint, like how you would like to see the AI act. Obviously the AI needs to be smarter.
All AI need to stop standing still in the open, it’s just silly. Even rushing to pick up stronger weapons dropped by their fallen allies. All enemies with can duel wield, with exception hunters and crawlers, to add to the challenge, even picking up a second weapon to duel wield with mid combat.
Elites. They will be changed to work around the lore little bit, lower ranks will be imagined as younger elites, prone to rage when wounded as its seen as being dishonourable and charging when their shield is broken but not always the case, if far enough they’ll take cover. Higher ranks would be the more experienced and wont rage when their shield is broken and will rush to cover, even covering their head whilst doing so. Hijacking needs to be re-implemented for them too.
Grunts don’t really need much since yknow, they’re grunts.
Jackals, definitely need some kind of change. As long as a player is in view, they have their shield up, none of that random moving the shield away for easy headshot unless they get hit of course. Jackals are also known to use either the left or right hand to shoot so having both users in game could throw players off every now and then. Even having some “tactics” like Jackals circling around an enemy to shoot form all directions. Another idea, which requires the old Jackals, is that the more muscly jackals from H4-5 follow enemies more, try to get close or use heavier guns while the older jackals hang back and defend leaders and use the longer ranged weapons, Jackals using vehicles and turrets is a must is well. Physically knocking grenades away with their shields would be interesting.
Hunters, don’t need much, they’re pretty good in this halo.
Soldiers, remove the -Yoink!- thing from them, other than that it’s fine. I’d say reduce the bullet spongeness but that isn’t too bad in the campaign, more ranks and types as well, versions suited for close combat with high armour but are slower or something like that.
Knights, thinking to more versions. Long range versions with low armour, no weakpoints and small shield, more reminiscent of the older knights from H4 and have the teleport they did in H4 to try and keep themselves at range. mid range knights will be the ones we see now but try to keep their backs against a wall when both shoulders are broken. Knights can have the ability to wield small weapons with those freaky little arms they have.
Crawlers, bring back their ability to go on walls, thats all I can think of
Watchers, more versions, a healing, speed boosting, assault and defensive. healing watchers have a green glow to them and heal enemies at a higher rate than normal watchers, speed boosting creates a pulse that bumps to the speed of anything electrical friend or foe. Assault watchers send out a pulse that increases the aggression of prometheans and the watcher itself has higher armour and likes to go on the attack. Defensive watchers can catch multiple grenades, create numerous shields and even gives nearby allies a tiny shield like the engineers from ODST and Reach.
