Anyone have tips to improve my kd ratio when every round has me vastly outskilled and half the time, outnumbered? It wasn’t an issue until my games because consistently positive in terms of the kd ratio, and I’m already beginning to drop back to where I was when I started.

On Halo 5 or MCC? The tips I can give are, pretty standard and almost cliche, like I’m sure you’ll hear everyone say it but work on your aim, your decision making, map knowledge, etc. etc. Working on all of those things and unfortunately doing bad against people better than you is necessary and you get better that way. It all takes time, when I first started playing Halo back in Halo Reach I had an AWFUL K/D, then as I played good players and got into competitive I got better and the K/D came back, then with Halo 4, MCC, and Halo 5 my K/D has been great. Some games your K/D will just be awful I still have bad games where I go 4-16, very rarely, but play social and play slow. Notice your mistakes mid game and correct them based on how the other team is playing. Playing slow and playing around your teammates will help your K/D greatly, and also knowing where and when power weapons spawn. If you need any advice or in game tips message me and maybe I’ll make a video or something, this seems to be an issue for a lot of people when they start playing.

That’s incredibly helpful, thank you. I don’t play much Halo 5, so all of my issues lie in the MCC, but I will definitely try to implement this as best I can. I have been playing a lot more competitive due to one of the season challenges, but tbh, social is probably a better option for the time being. Thank you again, this means a lot.

No problem man, Competitive will be a good way to become a better player, then when you go to a social game mode or something like that. It’ll transfer and you’ll start getting top of the leaderboard and stuff the more time and effort you put into getting better.

I always find my biggest issues when it comes to K/D are:
- Solo queuing. It’s always easier to stay alive if you’re with a team you know and trust as you won’t find yourself isolated so much. - In objective games I am very much guilty of tunnel vision and going for the objective over my KD. This is tied to point 1 because in a team and coordinated that can be a real asset, but solo and uncoordinated can just be a recipe for death after death after death. - ‘Chasing’ K/D. If I get off to a bad start in a game I can find myself slipping into a hyper-aggressive ‘must kill everything this life’ mindset. 90% of the time what follows is not Rambo-mode, but another 5 deaths to power weapons/vehicles. Very occasionally it works, but not enough to be worth it. - Sometimes hanging back and letting others take the hits so you can get kills is the best strategy. I’m often the guy out front and centre being shot by 2+ enemies. Again tied to point 1 - in a well coordinated team we might trade my one death for killing 2-3 enemies and winning a tactical victory over a power weapon/location. In uncoordinated teams it’s a straight trade at best and at worst, a 0-2/1-2/1-3 swing in the enemy’s favour.
Punch e’m in the face! Melee combat!
Just keep playing and focus on keeping yourself alive more, having a team to talk to is also helpful
Dont rush big groups of players, always go for power weapons, understand the spawns of the map, and most importantly always hit headshots, headshots always do the most damage, quickest way to break someone’s shield and get that kill shot, the most important keys is having good aim and spawn knowledge

I play slower and slower. Lately someone called me trash for having a 1.5 K/D on MCC so I’ve been slaying more, I typically pick BTB and than just focus on denying the enemy team Rockets, Snipes and Laser so I don’t have to worry about it. Power weapons and positions are key to solo queue Halo. Otherwise I would join a clan, typically most clans will get you to a nominal skill level until they top out and can’t teach you anymore.
Just have fun. Its not always about k/d … we made some friends in this game worth millions of kills… Just have fun.
So what I’ve gathered is:
- Learn the maps, especially points of interest such as power weapon spawns
- Build tactics around my team and opponents, instead of rushing in
- Find a group I can play with and trust, as opposed to randoms
- Improve my accuracy
- Have fun, and let the stats increase on their own
I’ll try to implement these as best as I can, and I appreciate all the help I have been given. Hopefully I can convince two good friends of mine to get MCC so we can play together, as that would definitely make things more enjoyable, at the bare minimum.

Perfect summary!
Personally I reckon number 5 is the most important one. You’re not getting anywhere if you’re getting frustrated every time you have a negative K/D. Keep chill and focus on your game.
Have fun!

unfortunately this is true. all you can do is get in a huge amount of practice and maybe find a weapon you like and just play with it so you can get better with using it.(this is a big part of MY STRATEGY)

Well unfortunately, just picking 1 weapon in Halo doesn’t work. You need to be consistently using a BR/DMR since that is THE Weapon. Once you get good with that, you’ll be good to go with everything else
Learn maps, weapon spawns, player spawns, and some maps have secrets that can influence/change the map. I suggest you take it slowly and build confidence in your abilities, know that you can improve and use that desire to improve as motivation. (I’m not good with words so sorry for basically making a copy paste)

Hard to do when the entire team leaves the game. It was 1v3 when I was playing CE Anniversary throwback yesterday.

Use a beam rifle, incineration cannon, or something OP in Halo 5

That’s when the power weapons come in clutch. Granted that’s if you can get those before the enemy
Log into a forge game with a guest, spawn one spawn point, and start killing. Make sure he’s on the opposite team though.
