One of Halos best features for players was the ability for Lan play. Nothing is better than getting all your friends together in one room, ordering pizza and playing Halo. Our group has had two Lan party’s since the release of Halo MCC and we have had difficult times playing at both. Many issues have occurd like not being able to join players, not seeing friends on and party crashes after each match. We have tried many approaches from all connecting to to the same router over WIFi, all wired and all wired to a switch that’s connected to a router. I understand there are many issue occurring in Halo MCC right now, but I hope to see this issue worked on in the future. I believe having a Lan Option under the Custom Game menu would be a great feature. Something to make it easier for lan players to connect and play together. Thank you 343 for creating Halo MCC and putting so much work into this game. We all apprentice the around the clock work you are putting into making this game the best it can be for it’d customers.
I agree with this. Our group too has had many LAN functions and although it is not horrible, it is very inconvenient having to rely on Xbox Live to join the games and the like. Microsoft and 343 need to implement a dedicated LAN feature for Halo: The Master Chief collection and any future Halos. Especially since they are holding LAN HCS tournaments. If you follow the streams for these events, you’ll see there is a lot of down time and although it may not all be attributed to the bugs in MCC and XBL, I’m sure it has a lot to do with it.
What will happen if “the Lizard Squad” decides to take down XBL during a HCS event? When no one can connect to XBL or see their roster or friends?
Postpone the event because the game can’t be played? They can’t, because people have already paid airfare and lodging expenses. I kind of hope this happens just so they put their butt in gear and make true LAN mode available for this game.

LAN isn’t even working? Clearly these guys do not have the right people leading the development teams.

It’s not that it is not working; it is nonexistent.
There is no LAN feature out of the box with Halo: TMCC
The closest thing to LAN with this game is being connect via ethernet cable to the same network. But you still “ping” to XBL, and join each other through the Online Roster.
Which is r3tarded.
343! Add real LAN ability! It’s ridiculous we’re this far from launch and it’s still not available. You promised it would be available. So dumb!
