You’ve probably read a million threads like this one recently, but I wouldn’t know; I’ve been disconnected from the Halo universe for quite some time now. As my friend recently bought Anniversary, I’ve gotten back into the world of Halo again, and like before, I’ve got my forging cap on.
When Forge was revealed way back in Halo: 3, people set there imaginations loose creating incredible maps, outstanding sculptures and other things in the new game mode. A little later, people discovered new techniques, for example, floating objects and phasing by starting new rounds. This made maps develop more, and lead to many recreations of old maps. Even later and people had discovered what I like to call, Ghost Phasing, where a certain trick was performed which allowed you to create objects phased. Then of course, Forge 2.0 was unveiled for Reach and this simplified things a LOT. Phasing no longer takes centuries and fixing is a thing of the past. Co-ordinates allow you to place-to-precision (to an extent) and new FX add more variety to maps. Just imagine taking this* further…
I’ve already had millions of ideas ready to post for what may be included with the possibility of Forge 3.0, and I want to hear other people’s ideas. I had a very similar thread to this on bungie.net, but after reaching nearly 200 replies, the thread died out and faded into what is now the locked history of the bungie - Reach forums.
So, please tell me your ideas for a new forge, a better forge! Make them realistic - not ideas like “free roaming moa” but instead things like “a better pre-game menu” (obviously with more detail). I will add my own ideas as the thread grows.
