Halo 4 really needs to improve on some basic First Person Shooter aspects, which will set a solid foundation to then build the multiplayer game content on.
Basic things like:
- A wider field of view (90+degrees)
- A smooth frame rate of 60frames/s
- Aiming reticle centered on screen (rather then placed in the lower 3rd like Halo 2, 3, Reach)
- Reduce auto aim / aim magnetism
- Smaller hitboxs, particularly the headshot hitbox
- Better hit detection across a network
- Improve on latency-relative contest-resolutions

FOV: To be honest, it doesn’t make that much difference to me.
Frame Rate: Not gonna happen. 343i would never make the necessary graphical trade-offs. Apparently Reach runs at 60 FPS, but we only see it at 30. Make of that what you will.
-Yes. Centre-reticle would be nice.
- Considering the physics of Halo, I’d say it’s necessary.
- Basically, keep hitscan. (applies for last two.)
I have to agree with everything. I think a centered reticle with the weapon in the middle of the screen (Halo CE) looks better than holding everything off to the right. I don’t know what’s up with this trend, it doesn’t look very natural to me.
