I found that Recon control scheme is pretty comfortable in Halo 5. Everything works well for me, except for ground pound. I cannot aim with it. It is not possible to me. I don’t know why 343 changed its position to melee from crouch. There should be an option for placing ground ground to Crouch button. I love ground pounding people. How do you ground pound with Recon currently?
Seems logical to make it the crouch button. Not sure why it isn’t that in the first place. I don’t personally use recon but maybe 343 could make that minor adjustment.
Haven’t had any trouble myself. Just jump and press the button/ release. I always use recon though so if you just switched maybe practice a bit in customs.
I use Recon as well, and I have absolutely no issues with ground pound… and I even use a broken controller(I can’t afford a new one right now…)
As to how I do it? I can’t tell you, I don’t use the new features enough to really remember.
Edit: I hopped into customs to see how I do it. I press B with my index finger, so I still have full control. (A little trick I learns from playing Crackdown for months on end)
I’m pretty sure I use recon and I don’t have any issues at all.
Once you press and hold for the pound use your other thumb to aim with the stick.

Got too used to it in the beta to switch.
I find there’s always a command on an inconvenient button on other controls.
Like clicking the stick to meele, or jump.
Slide your left thumb to RS to aim… I do it all the time. It’s not like you have to use your left thumb for anything else while charging a Ground Pound…
When I ground pound I take my thumb off the right thumb stick and hold b, its still kinda awkward.
