Before you read this: I may be wrong but everything anyone says is all just pure speculation due to lack of info.
In the campaign demo we see chief stepping on the Halo ring for the first time. I see, and love the Halo CE feel they did like when you come crashing on the life pod off the pillar of autumn onto a halo ring for the first time. But the studio informed us that what we saw was approximately half way through the campaign. So where is chief for the beginning half of the campaign if we aren’t on the ring? Are we on a covenant ship or banished ship? I personally thought we would be on the open world ring the entire game.
What do you guys think? Where are we the first half on the campaign?
Who said that it was the first time they were landing on the ring? Maybe bro hammer was just dropping chief somewhere and suddenly got ambushed by the banished forces and got taken down by the AA.

Possibly. I remember seeing something with chief on reach with two dogs.

I was referring to when he goes back with blue team to recover assets from castle base for doctor Halsey.

This could be a possibility. But devs have stated that you will travel around this open world ring rather by foot or by vehicles. I don’t think they would take the risk of being spotted and risking both of their lives just to move somewhere. Chief would rather drive a warthog, or fly a banshee and whatever aircrafts they bring back.
