Hey guys.
I just want to share something because I can’t believe people are really dying down the hype for halo infinite and it’s “next gen” performance. The people who say Infinite won’t run next gen because it’s being supported on the Xbox One platform have no clue what they’re talking about. If you’re one of these people, please, read this quote from the recent Inside Infinite article.
> - "Here’s something that excites me as an engineering architect: for Halo Infinite*, we rebuilt the engine multi-threading solution to ensure high execution efficiency across all platforms and PCs, instead of running optimally just on Xbox One. We used this new system to transition the renderer to a massively parallel multi-threaded framework to support the increased cost of all our new rendering features and achieve high graphics efficiency on PC CPUs of various size as well as Xbox Series X/S and Xbox One X/S hardware. In practice, this means that we are doing our very best to make sure* Halo Infinite runs optimally on any device you may choose to play on!" - Daniele Giannetti, Game Foundation Architect
Dont get my wrong, I wish they didn’t support the Xbox one, so they could focus all of their efforts on getting the best possible performance they could, but it seems like we don’t need to worry about that anymore. Any device you choose will run optimally without being held back from Xbox One hardware. I do think that eventually they will ditch the Xbox One platform because they said Infinite will be the last halo title for the next 10 years or so. If you think about it, there’s no reason to be supporting 2013 hardware in 2030.
But all in all, stop spreading rumors that the game won’t run next gen. The engineers for the game stopped this rumor days ago it’s crazy to see people still spreading it.
Finally someone said it. The people who do spread this rumor are awfully quiet now haha
I have the series x and can’t wait to see how it runs.
I had no idea they said this. Hopefully they can get it right it sounds like they know what they’re doing
Doesn’t matter; even if the game runs ‘smoothly’ on all systems, the impact on the game design is still entirely limiting the experience because the game was still designed with those constraints in mind. They’re not designing two new games; it’s still a last gen design.

I’m glad someone else realized this or listened to me. Either way, unless MS creates a dedicated handheld platform, which is highly unlikely with their attempts at streaming, supporting XBox One hardware even three years from now is a waste of time and resources. Probably more like two years.
That doesn’t make it a next-gen game though.
The graphics, and performance will be optimized on next generation hardware. But the game engine itself (physics, ai, setpiece design, assets, world size, etc) is designed 100% within the limitations of Xbox One hardware and will NOT be enhanced on next gen platforms or PC (without mods).
If they announce another delay followed by the news that Infinite will no longer be releasing on Xbox One, then we can consider that they are making it a true next gen game. Until then it is only a current gen game, that will have next-gen graphics and performance on those platforms. You can compare it to any Xbox One title that received a solid Xbox Series update, those don’t magically turn them into next-gen games just because they look prettier and have higher frame rates. I don’t say this to kill the hype, I say this to temper expectations.
I am still VERY hyped for this game. The art direction looks beautiful, the recent articles have got me excited for a more diverse sandbox, and the devs really seem to be trying to give us old farts something closer to what we’ve been looking for since 2010.
Having played multiple games that released (sometimes years ago) on the Xbox One and then were later updated to be “optimized for Series X”, I have no worries really about next gen performance.
The jump from my Xbox One X to my Series X for MCC alone was a huge improvement, and all that really did was improve framerates, textures, and load times. Since Infinite is being built from the ground up for both generations, I think it’ll be as good a jump or better.
I think old gen gamers need to start mentally preparing for missing features on the old gen though.

People who are ‘worried’ about this are clowns or bots. You can tell because they’re not giving specifics on what theyre worried just blanketing the argument with “it’s on the last gen console so…”
So… what? Are we going to ignore the fact that games are released on consoles and PC’s at the same time and run great regardless of where you play them?
Are we going to ignore the successful business model of Nintendo and how they consistently outsell consoles with better hardware by literally just having good games?
These boomers are living in the late 90’s and early 2000’s if they honestly believe Microsoft will have to gimp the next Halo to get it on XB1

But how does that matter to you, the player. Halo Infinite is going to be good or bad based on Halo:Infinite, not the hardware that it’s put on.
If Infinite runs well on your console/device then that is the Infinite Microsoft wants you to play. There is no point getting hung up on what the game could have been. Nerd.

Are you really getting hung up on what the game could have been in a perfect world? Cringe. Either play the game or don’t- being on the xb1 isn’t what’s going to make or break Infinite. And if you think it is then you’re just parroting random arguments that fundamentally dont make sense.

That’s not a very accurate assessment of how software development works for multiple performance skews. Developers have been making “next gen” PC games that run on 10+ year old PC’s for a loooooonnnngggg time now. Those “next gen” games don’t hold their physics engine and what not back because if old hardware in those cases.
In fact, more often then not developers figure out how to make old machines handle performance loads that were thought unattainable just years prior to that. That’s why games performance just keeps getting better and better as a console/ GPU generation moves forward.

This isn’t about getting hung up on the game. This is about whether or not Halo Infinite is next gen. It isn’t. And people saying it is, particularly the content creators over on Youtube as they reach the widest audience, are spreading hype and expectations to players that the game will not meet. That’s why I point these things out. Because our expectations need to be grounded in the reality that Halo Infinite will not feature any enhancements aside from graphics and performance on next gen.

10+? No, it’s 4 years at best. Even on the lowest settings it’s hard to get a smooth 30fps out of modern games on old hardware. Especially AAA titles that push the envelope. If we are talking indie titles, or simpler games like platformers, moba’s, and hearthstone clones than yeah, they run fine. They also aren’t complicated games.
When it comes to the grand claims of the Xbox Series like the oh-so-popular “Hundreds of AI on-screen in one dynamic battle” that HaloFollower in particular is awful for claiming Halo Infinite will have? Nah fam, not gonna happen, because the Xbox One is incapable of it.

Are you really saying the Xbox One offers the same options in game design as the Series X? Cringe.
You fundamentally lack the knowledge of how technology works. Hardware is what allows developers to create experiences that were previously impossible. If a game is stuck with old technology, it is restricted to the capabilities of the old machine, which is an old, last-gen experience.
Graphics and performance is pretty much the only ‘next gen’ upgrade halo has ever gotten over the years.
Halo is not battlefield, I don’t know why people keep expecting it to become it.

So you’re getting hung up on semantics. Cool beans man, this is definitely something sane people think about before getting a new game.
Like I said before, Infinite will or wont do well based on Infinite, not the hardware it’s put on.
If you want to argue the semantics of calling it a ‘next gen game’ then argue with yourself but it has nothing to do with how the game will do.

Look at all those semantics that have nothing to do with whether the game is enjoyable or not. Wooahh. It’s a wall of nonsensical semantics trolling that- at a fundamental level- attribute to the best selling games in the world! Wow!

Bro you completely misunderstand my point.
My point is on the hype and player expectations. Right now there are lot of people out there expecting Infinite to have crazy next-generation gameplay features. Which it won’t because it can’t. Those players are going to be disappointed with the game because it won’t live up to their fantasy expectations. So I go out of my way to call it out for the sole purpose of informing those players that their expectations need to be lowered.
The last thing we need is for an actually good Halo game to finally come out, only for it to be deemed underwhelming by most of the community because it wasn’t “OMGNEXTGENAWESUMNESS”!
I agree with you that the game should be judged on itself. Not it’s generation. 100% that is how I will be judging it. I’m trying to convince more of the community to judge it that way as well, by not expecting it to be more than a very pretty Xbox One game when they play it on the Series X or PC.

Bruh no one is expecting anything but the next Halo game to run well and be fun wherever you play it. You’re getting hung up on nonesense and- no matter how much you try to reiterate it - your basic argument is about the semantics nad theories of how ‘next gen’ vs ‘last gen’ console games are gimped or not gimped because of the hardware theyre placed on.
And im here to tell you that no one gives a -FlyingFuck- about console performance. If they did Nintendo would have been dead in the water decades ago.
Again, Infinite will be enjoyable or not enjoyable because of Halo Infinite- not the hardware it runs on. You. Absolute. Nerd.

That’s why I point these things out. Because our expectations need to be grounded in the reality that Halo Infinite will not feature any enhancements aside from graphics and performance on next gen.

Those players are going to be disappointed with the game because it won’t live up to their fantasy expectations. So I go out of my way to call it out for the sole purpose of informing those players that their expectations need to be lowered.

You’re getting hung up on nonesense and- no matter how much you try to reiterate it - your basic argument is about the semantics nad theories of how ‘next gen’ vs ‘last gen’ consoles and how games are gimped or not gimped because of it

Ohh, so you’re a troll, I get it now.
Half the threads I see pop up on this forum, and a large quantity of content-creator videos or comments on those videos talk about fantasizing about how Infinite can be so amazing because it’s a “Next gen Halo”. So noone caring? Noone getting their expectations heightened to unrealistic levels? Yeah. Noone.
