Ever since February’s update went live a few days ago, it seems some servers got shut down (or became unavailable) for some people, since the update messes up with people depending on their geography. It says: “Attention. Could not find a server that was suitable for all members of your fireteam.”
That is to say, you can’t even start the search, not even access the playlists. There’s no server at all. I’ve talked with many people on French forums, and it concerns mostly people from FrenchReunion Island. Yet, the game worked perfectly since launch, and we could find people from Europe or America, and play without any issue whatsoever. I thought I was going to play this game for about two or three years until Halo 6 comes out, but it turns out it was only availble for 3 months. Now, it’s like the game has been completely shut down.
Have 343 said anything on restoring the servers they made disappear? By the way, if they ever come back, I hope it won’t be limited to players from your local region, because there won’t be enough players. Games that do that usually never work. One of the reason I loved Halo was because you could find people easily, and there was no lag, etc. Just restore the servers like before February’s update.
Another issue is that I may not be able to verify when the servers come back (if they ever do). My Gold membership has ended a few days ago. And when I select multiplayer, it tells me to renew my membership. I can still see the red screen of death with my brother’s account, who’s still Gold (on his console). But when his membership ends in a couple of weeks, he’ll have the same issue I have. We won’t be able to see whether the red message is here or not, unless we renew our Gold membership. And I’m not planning on losing my money without being sure that 343 restored their servers. I’d need explicit confirmation from them.
Hopefully they restore a playable game. Sometimes I felt like I was the only one still defending H5, but this is a huge letdown.
I never got this error message but I have a lot of issues too. February broke the game for a lot of people and from what I hear, mostly European players. I’ll quote my post from a Support thread:
"It’s pretty much the same for me here aswell in France. I had no problem since launch, and was pretty impressed to find match so quickly and never seeing lag. Everything was working incredibly well. Now, since the February Season started, it’s worse and worse every days. Searching alone, I managed to find enough games on the first day to finish my 10 matches, but with pretty much the same players and it was taking a while before finding them. Today I don’t find any, I even got a message saying something like “We couldn’t find a match for you, maybe there isn’t enough players in this playlist. Please try another”. I tried both Arena and Warzone, Social and Ranked playlists. I don’t find any player, not even one. I tried restarting the console and hard reset it. Nothing. I have a good connection and I don’t have issues on multiplayer games.For the last few days, I played Warzone without “too much trouble” by joining a Fireteam (mostly American people) but still, the searching time were far longer than before the February Season’s start and we saw lag. I never saw so much lag before this season. In the past, the only lag I saw was a single player teleporting and lagging in a game, but it was always a single person. I don’t know what’s going on and what changed with this season, but I can’t play multiplayer, and it’s starting to get really annoying. That was a few days ago, but it’s still the same for me. I can only find few games in the afternoon or the evening, but it’s pretty much the same players games after games. No searching issues when I’m playing with a Fireteam of American players, of course. These are just some issues that came with the February update/Season. Can’t find players, lag, region locked servers, can’t watch bookmarks in Theater … And there’s a lot more problems I saw posted in the forums but it looks like every thread got burried. I don’t understand why we don’t have any word from 343i. Just look at the Support forum. Nothing.

no problem, except some serious lag, in warzone for me (from Germany), but arena…
could play 2 matches breakout, then suddenly couldn’t find anyone, like there was noone left playing
played 8 matches SWAT, mostly always the same players, after that I found no players
got 50 mbit/s and 20 ping (to european servers), schouldn’t be a problem
Ok, thanks for your answers. Regarding what GoC VeNNoM said, I think my issue is related to region locked servers. Since servers are now locked - and Reunion Island is too far from Europe -, then multiplayer has been shut down altogether. Quite a terrible choice, because the game worked perfectly since launch. (for us, I mean)
I tried to warn about region locking in the ‘Dedicated server EU’ thread, but just got shot down in flames by a bunch of selfish tw@ts who claimed that everyone in the UK was having issues, when in the grand scheme of things it was a minority of players who were just reposting to the same thread.
They appear to have region locked, with apparently most UK games being played on Irish servers now. My ping from the UK to Ireland isn’t good because their broadband infrastructure is awful. As a result every game I played was horrible, with players just sponging shots all over the place - it couldn’t be played competitively, and had become more frustrating than fun!
The last game to have servers in Ireland was Battlefield 4. After lots of complaints they moved them to the Netherlands, or at least that’s what people said and the tests I did certainly backed that up at the time. Now, the Dutch do broadband very well. In fact the only thing they do better is cheese. XD
Anyway, I’m another victim of this region locking crap. The game worked fine prior to the February season, then it turned to -Yoink-. I’ve quite simply deleted the game, and with other people having a variety of different problems, I wonder how many others have done the same? Maybe that’s why some people can’t find games anymore? As for you OP, I think your situation is a development team oversight, so to speak. Hope it gets sorted for you though!
I’m in the UK and I can’t find games in most playlists since the feb update. I never had any issues before and it certainly isn’t my internet connection, nat or my ranks either especially since my nat is open and even unranked playlists have the same issue. When I eventually do find a match it takes a very long time, which also was never an issue before.
I have made threads in the support section and many others also have to no avail. No reply from anyone at 343 to even acknowledge that they know there is a problem. These server “improvements” have completely broke the game for me and many other people.
The only way I can hope to find a match is playing with my american pals, which when you take time zones into consideration isn’t exactly that easy. This needs fixing, I miss being able to jump into a match of BTB or whatever I fancy playing. Not a single issue prior to this update, not a single one.

You should ask them to come post here. We need to keep this thread alive and hopefully all this will get noticed by 343i. Also, maybe you could change your thread title to something more global like “Important February Update issues” or something like that to group everything and maybe more people will post here instead of creating new threads eveytime that get burried by others.
I am in Manchester and i don’t have this issue its weird. Keep seeing post after post concerning it but can’t experience it myself (lag is another matter) but i can always find a match
Im from South America and since this update every time i want to play it matches with North american people. It look that they closed our servers and now playing with lag really ruins the experience for us, specially the onyx ones as the north americans have a lot of advantage due to the lack of lag.

I’m having very bad time finding matches. It takes forever and very often it leads to “not enough players in this playlist error” especially in BTB but also in other more populated playlists like Slayer

Can you tell us where are you from? It looks like we have issues everywhere except in the United States.
It’s the same for me here in France, depending on when I’m playing. This could confirm that the servers are now region locked. I’m sorry but I didn’t buy a game to be able to play only at some times. I’m supposed to be able to play whenever I want, right?
