Does the inclusion of a join-in-progress system mean the elimination of any type of quit-penalty? One of the best aspect of CoD’s system is that I can simply leave a match if my team of randoms is matched against a full or nearly-full party. Hopefully H4 will work similarly since randoms getting match against parties has always been an issue with Halo IMO.
I don’t think it will do anything negative. It could still deplete you of Spartan Points, and the game could be count as a loss.
All in all, I think it’s a much needed upgrade to the multiplayer and will take away all the negative effects of a butt-hurt player
I hope they do allow join in progress.
The most annoying things ever about Halo matchmaking, aside from the team killing -Yoink–wits is…
A) Waiting to find every player needed to start a match
and
B) When someone quits out from your team or when multiple people quit it, it’s almost certain that you’ll get slaughtered unless you hide.
My only concern is will we be able to join towards the end of a game?
i love join in progress its a good idea and i see no downside at all
The last 30 seconds of the game should be unjoinable, but otherwise I like it. (For social games only.)
As long as join in progress does not increase the host migration and black screen then it is fine.
For ranked join in progress should never be allowed.

T’was confirmed it won’t be in ranked matches
As long as its implemented right it should work just fine
But Halo 4 needs a QUIT BAN otherwise things are going to get REALLY OUT OF HAND…

Totally agree mate. Quitting is at epidemic proportions.
There’s no real downside for it in Social matches. You gain practice and exp for your progression ranks, and got nothing to lose.
Keeping the matches full of playerrs and keeping the downtime to a minimum can help social alot.
Though I do see quitting still happening, I say it should have a punishment for the ones that quit out too frequently. It’s social. There’s nothing to really lose, so why quit unless of an emergency?

How will the system know that the last part of a match will last 30 seconds? Or a minute? Or Five? So many things can happen.
I just hope there is an option to search for a match before its started. I’d rather not join games that are half way through.
If I remember correctly it will be optional.

Yes a option I will NEVER USE
BUT there needs to be a penalty for people that quit.

By optional I believe he means not every playlist will have it.
The main thing I would like to see in 4 is a party-based matchmaking system. If you get a party of 3-4, then you should only match up with other parties of 3-4. I hate running into full teams while I’m stuck with bad randoms and having to choose between a possible quit penalty, getting destroyed, or walking away from my controller while I get destroyed.
Honestly I wasn’t sure what to think about this feature when I first heard it. I love that the system will make what I call the ‘Reach’ effect not as bad. I call it the ‘Reach’ effect because of the observation I’ve noticed about the Halo Reach gaming crowd. They quit A LOT. I could go off further detailing why I think this but I want to stay on topic. I think it will help because the game can be replenished by new gamers once quitters do what they do best. I’m assuming most people will agree that they played a lot of games that had at least one person quitting just because they feel like it or b.c they’re getting spanked or b.c. they don’t like the map or whatever other excuse people make. Now the team that had the quitters will get more teammates eventually, hopefully it’s a quick wait. I like that idea. Only thing I would love to see added is a filter that makes it so you can’t join objective games with less than 5 minutes remaining and slayer games with less than 15 kills left. I hate joining domination games in CoD with 2 minutes left in which my team is down by 150 points. It’s not fun and is a complete waste of time.
I wonder if we could quit the game, then rejoin, then quit the game, then rejoin, then quit the game and so on…
I only ask because I know this from Resistance (PS3).
At the moment that I was killing the enemy, he quit the game, then he rejoined, spawned behind me and killed me. I hope something like this wont be in Halo4.

Yes for the social part there wont be any penalty. Ranked will most likely not have join mid games due to it’s ranked so quit there will give the player some sort of penalty.

Simple really, once the timer hits 30 seconds remaining, make it so no one can join, as for sudden death, I wouldn’t want anyone joining during that, all it would take from that is one lucky shielded enemy spawn to wreck a victory.
