Imo - vehicle maps should be larger

Like 90% of the threads made: this one too is also very opinion based.

Most of us recognize that the maps in btb and Warzone have “clutter”. Now this clutter is in place to handle infantry security against sniping and vehicles. However these “clutter” are too close to each other. They are so close to each other to the point that vehicles are forces to go into battle in single lanes, especially tanks.

I believe halo CE had btb maps right. No lanes period. If you want 3 tanks side by side the map can allow that without forcing them to be stopped. Halo 2 and on slowly added more and more cover for infantry which took up valuable vehicle space. Granted halo2 did not have too much but rather little. H3 added a little more, halo 4 adde more, halo 5 added more and now on the biggest maps ever made the tanks can barely go down a single lane.

But it’s not the clutter that’s at fault. There just aren’t enough open areas for vehicles (excluding the beach on Apex which is done well but the rest of the map needs work) Btb maps are tiny and We can see this in forge. Expanding the btb maps so that they are more vehicle friendly so we won’t be limited to ghost, warthogs, and mongooses (mongi, mongoosen). A clear example of this would be the removal of the scorpion tank from Recurve that could have been fixed by adding room for the tank to move around on.

It is more work … Yes but when will we get a map useful enough for a tank? Or an elephant? Or even a mammoth? (I know those aren’t in the game but if halo 6 continues the pattern to make large vehicles stationary the we will never see great uses of these vehicles)

You know this is a great thread! I’ve been thinking the same thing for such a long time now. BTB and Warzone just feel so cramped for some of those larger vehicles. We need some bigger maps for BTB, where people can drive around and have real vehicular combat. Battle of Noctus was supposed to be designed for this, but the map is so open that most of the time, infantry can ignore or easily take out the vehicles because of the huge open sight lines above.

Also, I think a better heavy vehicle on Recurve would be a Mantis since it is more mobile, even though, the new Halo 5 Mantis just makes me miss the Halo 4 one.

I am interested in forging with anyone who has more forge experience than me (6hours lol) to test this expansion on btb maps and make the maps look nice.

An Xbox message will suffice. Nalla78

The routes that are available to vehicles are very tight, and theres a ton of objects for players to use to close the gap and board/grenade you.

This map design effectively nerfs vehicles, and that does not even consider the amount of weapons with kinetic attachments.

Vehicles in Halo 3 were totally dominant and you couldnt take them out easily without power weapons. But now vehicles are very vulnerable, and require 1 or 2 players to back up the vehicle for it to stay alive.

I too am hoping we will get some forge maps that give vehicles some more room to breathe. As for the existing maps, H5 vehicles require support.

I agree, the map design in the game makes some vehicles a death trap. It’s too easy for the enemy to sneak around the clutter and easily board your tank or whatever. Hopefully any community BTB maps solve this issue.

Excellent Thread

I’ve posted about this too and I couldn’t agree more. Either Maps need to get bigger, clutter needs to be removed, or vehicles (tanks especially) need some major upgrades.

Land base vehicles (tanks mostly!!) have been relegated to almost just a support role. Which is really a shame, because high tech UNSC equipment should be used to push the issue, not support it.

I think most people can agree with the fact that when tanks enter the game the thought is not “Oh no, we need to figure out how to get rid of this together before our lines break!” but “Hey guys there’s a tank here. I got it this time, keep doing what you are doing. Have a beer ready when I get back”

Man I thought I was going crazy but yes the new mantis is only “great” at the ONI variation. I by no means am saying the new mantis is bad but does feel nerfed from halo 4 in terms of control and HUD.

Hopefully we can see bigger vehicular BTB maps with the Community BTB playlist coming soon. (I’m really hoping Halvalla is put in. Truly a great remake)

I think we all remember when Recurve launched how it had a tank on it, right?
Anyone remember how easy it was to get boarded on that map and how you basically had to sit in the tank’s spawn to evne try and survive?
Yeah…OPs got a point.
When I think of a “vehicle map”, I remember hurtling my M12 over the hills of Blood Gulch on my original Xbox via LAN, flag in teh side and sister screaming as she let rip with the M41 LAAG. I remember running people down on Coagulation to get to the rocket launcher. I remember Hemorrhage, Valhalla, Longbow. The many community made maps in Reach’s BTB.
Where’re those?

A Zanzibar, Sandpit, and Hemorrhage remakes!!! This solves this issue! Lets get these!
