Imagine Reach with Ordinance...

Now, I’m not saying get rid of the normal weapon spawns, just add ordinance drops.

The thing I’m seeing the most is the “pros” who love controlling the map and grabbing all the power weapons at the beginning of the match and dig themselves in are saying that Ordinance is a crutch for weak players, that its unfair.

Well, you know what’s really unfair? Grabbing the shotgun and sword and camping in the lift room in Swordbase. A full team going up against randoms…THAT isn’t balanced or fair. It seems to me that the “pros” don’t like having to work harder, that’s to say, they’re not used to their opponents having the weapons that they normally do.

Imagine Swordbase or Camp-down with ordinance. It’d be a slaughterhouse. The lift room would cease to be impregnable if an opponent managed to get an incineration cannon.

Me? I’m a random, and as such I’m usually lucky getting ANY sort of power weapon (that spawns at the beginning…I usually get 2-3 ordinance drops per game) I personally love ordinance because I don’t have a team to rely on.

The funniest thing is that most ordinance I get is mostly useless, and not in the sense that I get a needler or speedboost. I’m talking about getting Rockets on Ragnarok about half way through the game when all the vehicles aren’t yet spawned or a SAW or shotgun on the same level. REALLY? You’re going to give me this close range weapon on this HUGE map? WTF?

I could ONLY see ordinance getting out of hand once a player hits 50, starts with Tracker along with Ordinance Priority in their loadout.

Disagreed.

If you do not have the ability to get to the power weapons first in previous Halos, you did not deserve it.

ESPECIALLY on maps like The Pit where everyone is equal distance from all the power weapons. It takes skill and battle to get the weapon. As well as knowing the spawn timers

What happened to having fun instead of being competitive? I never understood WHEN or WHY this transition happened.

What about what I said about randoms? Playing against a full team who knows EXACTLY where EVERYTHING spawns puts ME at a big disadvantage if I have randoms who have negative K/Ds, doesn’t it? I generally had to sit still until my teammates exhausted the other team’s power weapon ammo before I would attempt to go on the offense.

In a competitive type match up? Map control and weapon spawns I absolutely agree with. Infinity slayer is ABSOLUTELY casual. Random weapons and no starting/steady weapon spawns almost ensure that you have to die to get more ammo. Ordinance is the only way to be offensive on a BIG map where kill distances are in the hundreds of meters. I would almost go so far as to say only small 4v4 or 5v5 should have ordinance. BTB you’ll lose your weapon if you die, you’ll have ZERO chance to run back and reclaim it before it spawns. On a small map? You’ve got a chance.

I’m sure they’ll put regular generic slayer in eventually, with static weapon spawns and such. I’m sure they’re just catering to the CoD and casual crowd with ordinance. Its something new and exciting. I’d say 10% of the population are “pro” are the people who dislike ordinance.

But look on the flip side. A GOOD player will get four ordinance a game. I shudder to think what will happen if a GOOD player gets a binary rifle. The best argument I’ve heard is that just because a player gets a good weapon doesn’t mean they can use it to the best of its extent.

A few flaws in your post:

  • You used the most imbalanced map in the history of Halo as an example, so that point is moot.
  • This game blows with global random ordnance, that much is a fact. Play any game with predictable power weapon/up spawns on the map, and it plays 1000000000 times better even with random PODs.
  • You can get an ordnance drop in Halo 4 without even firing your weapon
