Halo 5 make a wonderfull job with the thruster pack, it would be a shame if it wasn’t in Infinite. I know the grapple will change the way to move, but I hope the thruster will stay as an option or an equipment to pick up.
Do you have info on the thruster pack in Infinite ?
Would you like to see him back ?

likely just poor translation, Google Translate isn’t exactly the most reliable thing.
I don’t like the thruster pack in Halo 5 because it is a base player trait, but I wouldn’t mind seeing it become an equipment item. I’m curious to see how 343 plans on blending armor abilities and equipment together, because the grapple certainly blurs the line between the two
I think the thruster will be returning. The recent confirmation that you can carry multiple equipment items at the same time in campaign could have implications on MP.
My personal hypothesis - In MP, we’re going to spawn with a default equipment item already equipped, and we can pick up one additional item off the map. I think thr default equipment will be the thruster.
I also think the MP is going to be really similar to H5, but with the general speed of every action and movement lowered a tad.
Edit: I guess since MP equipment is confirmed capped at 1, then I hope we start with thruster by default, and have the option to swap it out for other equipment.

343 confirmed in the stream that matchmaking multiplayer will have the capacity set to one, but it can be expanded in custom games
H5s thruster system definitly wont return. Would be to many control systems to implement just as an equipment pickup. But maybe the dodge thrust, although I’d rather have evade back.

This is a point I haven’t seen brought up much, but yeah, the controls instantly get a hell of a lot more messy when you introduce a thruster as an ability on top of sprint and equipment. There are only so many button inputs on a controller, after all

One button for the equipment and you change it in pick up an other equipment, already done in Reach and H4, I don’t understand how it’s a problem

Even on K&M the controls would be convoluted. Think about how many thrust abilities H5 had, dodge, sprint, ground slam, shoulder charge, whatever else I’m forgetting. Now imagine when you pickup the thruster equipment, all of a sudden you have an extra 4+ keybindings that you have to remember.

Reach and Halo 4 did not feature sprint, a thruster, and an additional ability. Reach had a single armor ability, Halo 4 traded the grenade swap button for sprint and kept the armor ability button the same, Halo 5 just locked the ability button to the thruster. Even Halo 5 barely managed it because ground pound was bound to the melee button which resulted in that awful delay when you press melee. How would you propose these controls be bound on a controller?
Thruster Pack could be only for the dodge. For the shoulder charge, it could be natural to have it all the time, it’s just the button melee when you sprint. Same thing for the stabilisation when you aim in the air, it could be always present. I won’t be disapointed if ground slam disappeared
So a button for sprint and a button for the equipment / ability, like in Halo 4. When you have the equipment Thruster Pack, press the button make you dodge.

Lol, didn’t you hear it yet? One equipment at a time in mp.

I saw earlier today. Added an edit to my post.
So I guess now I just hope we start with the thruster as default equipment. I personally think it will be a pretty big loss to the skill ceiling if the thruster gets taken out.
I do not share your worry. If they make Infinite like 4/5 it will fail and personally I’ll completely lose interest. Thrusters as a limited equipment pickup? Sure whatever I guess.
I liked the h5 thruster and most of the other Spartan abilities minus Spartan charge. Based off the gameplay we’ve seen so far I’d guess if it’s back it’ll be equipment not a standard ability for players.
I personally think that Halo should stray as far as it can from advanced movement so the sandbox is what’s emphasised instead of player power. Sandbox is what Halo is all about at it’s core.
