I understand what you write and is true, when halo Infinite came out MCC will not be the same

Yea it seems like the passing of an era. They say they plan on infinite lasting another 10 years so hopefully I can try my best to remain excited for what is still to come.
Plus keeping the old servers running for a tiny population (especially since MCC now has all those experiences and is available on Game Pass) is incredibly unfriendly to the environment, requires more staff time to maintain, and is going to slightly dilute player population in the long run.

Yes of corse, 343 take a easy solution to close the og server
I hate knowing that i missed out on peak Halo years as i wasn’t born early enough to experience it the hayday. I really hope the infinite can capture the same feelings that came with the past Halo games, but i think reality is setting in that another age of halo has ended. Bittersweet. I hope they keep up MCC for at least this gen. I wouldn’t be surprised if 343 shut it down sooner though, the player counts are pretty -Yoink- as is.
I understand the reasons why. Still, it stings knowing the golden age of my childhood is closing, and it’s not coming back.
Hell, it still stings that Halo.Bungie.Net got closed permanently last month even though it hasn’t been used for 9 years. All those years of file share content, screenshots, clips, and forum discussions? Gone.
I would hope there’s at least a number of Halo community folks preserving the Halo.Bungie.net stuff. Old or not, it deserves to be kept for record-keeping.
Honestly giving it some thought I can’t help but feel a little sad that this era will be gone. But thankfully it is on Halo MCC for Nostalgia sake (but man those title music of 3/reach will be missed).
Makes me wonder how Halo will look like 10 years from now. Will we view Old school Halo like how we view Quake?

I would garner that to a degree we will, yes.
I know that MCC has its own ranking system but I am also somewhat sad that the service records for the individual game are dead and going away forever as well. Still so many regrets for not maxing out past comms/ranks. Oh well it’s more important to be excited for the future than to burden ourselves grieving over the past; still sad though.
