Halo is my favourite game series of all time, been playing Halo multiplayer since Halo 1, but it’s almost impossible to enjoy this one. I really am trying so hard to like this game, but its just so bad in every way, and by far the worst Halo game in the series.
-
The maps are by far the worst in any game (not just Halo) that I’ve ever played. I can’t describe how bad they are, they are built purely for aesthetics and nothing else, they are so compact and over complicated. Look at The Pit from Halo 3, seen as one of the best Halo maps, it was symmetrical, open map at a decent size, with each part of the map clear (green, snipe, longhall etc). 343 is yet to make a map that even comes close.
-
The ranking system is a mess. I don’t care about all these technical things that go on behind the scenes, if a player is a Platinum 2, they should play other Platinum 2s, then maybe 1s or 3s if there isnt enough Platinum 2s searching (which I imagine there will be?). The fact that lower ranked players get matched up with Onyxs is a joke.
-
There is STILL no BR starts. Why, after countless posts giving feedback to 343 saying that the game needs BRs, have they still not put it in? I’ve seen the reasons people don’t like it and I think they’re wrong. If everyone had the BR, they wouldn’t be as “easy” as people say, annd BR starts promotes tactical play, as opposed to the run and gun style of play 343 pushes on us with the overpowered close ranges weapons. Which brings me nicely too…
-
Close range weapons too overpowered. Remember when close ranged weapons were for close range? Yeah they were nicer times. Close range should be close range, not close to mid range. Sort it out.
-
Mini nukes, AKA grenades. There is just no need for nades to be this powerful. Throwing a well placed grenade is a skill, or at least it used to be. Now in H5, the damage they do is ridiculous, which isnt helped by how many grenades are on the map, its just a constant barrage of grenades all the time.
-
Spartan abilities. These never had any place in Halo, but unfortunately this is one that I know 343 loves for some reason, so I know they will never take it out. I’m also well aware of the fact Bungie started this, which was a huge mistake by them. 343 had the chance to rectify this, and to some extent they did. I still think sprint ruins the way the game is played, but I liked what they did by making it that shields don’t restore until a player has stopped sprinting. Great. But then they decided to add spartan charge and ground pound. Not great. I can live with ground pound, but spartan charge is just ridiculous.
Anyway, 343 is primarily responsible for the downfall of what was once the biggest game at the time. They catered for lesser players instead of throwing them in a difficult arena which could help them improve their game. They focussed primarily on the aesthetics of the game (which btw, do look great, but thats not the point), instead of the way the game plays. They went full CoD with this one, as much as people don’t like that analogy, however, it is true. You never know, maybe they will actually listen to the feedback of loyal players who have invested years playing this series. I am aware that that is very optimistic, however.
Why would you try to like a game? If you have to force yourself to like something, you probably don’t/won’t like it.

Uhh… Halo: CE didn’t have multiplayer.

It did on PC and it was awesome!
Thats what my girlfriend says all the timeIn seriousness, don’t force yourself to like something, find something you like, experiment
I always see these comparisons of Halo 5 to CoD. I do not see how they are any at all similar besides the fact that they are shooters.

Does LAN not count as Multiplayer?

Because I’ve still never found a game that came close to Halo 3 (since Halo 3) in terms of competitiveness and lifespan. Halo has the ability to be unique, which is what made it so good in the first place, but Halo 5 is taking away it’s identity. Honestly, not many other game series appeal to me at all, which is why I keep coming back to Halo 5, and keep trying to play it in hope that it will one day be good

Apparently not to kids these days. If anyone brings up LAN or Offline modes they response is “Internet”

Halo 5 is taking away Halo 3’s ID? That’s not true, Halo 3 is still the same.
Well I don’t know what to tell you, if you don’t like H5 that’s fine, you don’t have to play it. If you only like H3, go back and play that I guess? Either way, give 5 a break for a while and come back to it. Nothing anyone says can really help you if you just don’t like it.

Well, technically, I’m giving feedback through forums, so I’m hoping that I’m playing a very small part of improving the game. I also didnt say that Halo 5 is taking away Halo 3’s identity, I’m saying its taking Halo’s identity as a whole. So I dont wan’t to just leave it, I did that already for other 3 months. I want to be able to play a decent Halo game. I still play MCC all the time, but you know what thats like…

I said WE can’t do anything to help you, and lets be honest, if you don’t like H5 that much, do you really think the changes that they’ll make are going to be big enough to make you like it? Games don’t drastically change like that.
I actually haven’t played MCC yet, but it heard it wasn’t that bad anymore.

Full of BR voted matches? That’s all I found during my playtimes on MCC… stuck with Fiesta and didn’t play much else.
And hopefully our feedback, yours, mine, everyone’s - even the most pointless complaints - will reach 343i. So far they seem to have a deaf ear towards the community from what I can see and gathered.
If you don’t like playing Halo 5 anymore, just stop playing it and return the game for some money.

Right? Multiplayer is multiplayer regardless of internet connection. LAN was one of the biggest things to happen to Halo. While I do really enjoy Halo 5. Bungie did a much better job than 343i has done. Reach, in my opinion, started the franchise in a downhill direction. I do know that Bungie was part of that as well. Halo 5 brought me back. I can only hope it will go in a better direction.

Yes it is the point lol you’re not gonna like them all. This game isn’t for you, you tried to enjoy it. 343 clearly doesn’t care to bring you back “old” halo. Let the ppl who are enjoying it enjoy it. If it crashes and burns they will learn. Come back when halo 6 is on the table st least there you have some sort of voice. Halo 5 is out and its mechanics are staying there nothing anyone here can do. Return the game and go play something you enjoy lol
