I'm tired of the Halo 4 hate.

Let me get this out of the way. Halo 4 is a great game. I love it and I am getting annoyed with people acting like it is a bad game riddled with problems.

I started playing Halo back on the original xbox. I loved Halo CE it was an absolutely amazing game, then came Halo 2. What can I say about Halo 2. It was and to this day still is my all time favorite shooter. I don’t think ANY game will leave as major an impact on my life as Halo 2 did. I played that game online constantly from it’s release in November until Halo 3 and I still look back with nothing but fond memories of the best gaming experience of my life!

Then Halo 3 came…I waited up till midnight to get my hands on the follow up to my favoirte game of all time. I HATED it. I was so dissapointed. I tried playing it in fact I played well over a year but never started liking it. Looking back I’m sad I wasted so much time on that game when I didn’t even like it. I would constantly pop in my Halo 2 disc because 3 just wasn’t fun. It was slow, unfair, boring, broken, nothing worked right a complete downgrade of 2 and it was the sequel. I couldn’t enjoy 2 the same however as almost noone played. I ended up selling my Xbox 360 as I bought it for Halo 3 and ended up hating it.

I ended up playing Reach when it came out at a friend’s house and it was even worse than 3! I thought if it was good I’d play again but after 2 horrible games I was fed up I was done with Halo.

Until I heard Halo 4 was being done by another company. I was interested. Bungie may have made my favorite shooter of all time but they also ruined it and I had lost faith in them to bring it back because they thought it was moving in a good direction. I thought maybe this new company can return Halo to it’s former glory and bring back the magic and fun of Halo 2. I watched every video and read every article about Halo 4 loving everything I saw. I felt that HAlo was heading back in the right direction and that the fun would once again be back. I bought a new xbox in the summer so when Halo 4 came out I’d be ready. I waited up till midnight for my copy. The verdict? I LOVED IT! I felt like I was playing Halo again! The thrill and excitement I hadn’t felt for so long came back! 343i fixed Bungie’s mistakes. HAlo 4 was beter than I hoped and I am having so much fun! It hurts me to see all this hate for such a well made game that is so fun!

And while 2 is still my favorite shooter of all time Halo 4 is a HUGE step in the right direction and the most fun I’ve had in a long time. Not only is the multiplayer my second favorite in the series after 2 the story was my favorite in the whole series!

Keep up the good work 343i and don’t listen to the haters!

Do you mind going into a bit of detail as to why you didn’t like Halo 3?

Interesting…you’re probably going to be flamed for being a heretic of the “true” halo series.

Good to see a classic player that likes halo 4 though lol…

Well id like it more if they kept Chiefs armor original and cortana’s avatar original and put in more then 1 classic halo song that that didnt last for 5 seconds.

Halo 4 is awsome. I truly appreciate a game 343i that puts all of its effort into this for us to enjoy and I look forward to the next 2 as well. =)

Their are is a lot of classic player’s out their that like Halo 4.

I’m a classic player too and I like Halo 4, but I’m not going to say I love or that its better than the original 3. Could change over time though. Every Halo game has been terrible around launch time and gotten drastically better through TUs and map packs. Remember how bad Halo 2 was when it launched? It later when on to become one of (if not THE) greatest multiplayer game to date. A lot of people just expect greatness right out of the box. Only Halo game to ever do that was CE.

It’s a shame so many people call Halo 4 a failure of a game, saying its awful and unfinished. It’s neither of those things. It’s a great game (maybe dmr balancing :stuck_out_tongue: ), I love it, and the only people who don’t are people stuck in the past.

I play everyday, and win/lose or draw, I thoroughly enjoy it.

> Do you mind going into a bit of detail as to why you didn’t like Halo 3?

Sure. For one it was very slow. The game always felt like it was in slow motion to me which was not fun and boring.

A huge reason was it felt so cheap. The sniper was so broken Headshots almost never registered right. There is a difference between something taking skill and something being very based on luck. Aiming and hit registration felt wrong (lack of hitscan? BR Spread?). You couldn’t lunge with the sword as soon as you pulled it out making one of my favorite weapons pointless. Glitched too much in unfair ways, Too noob friendly, too luck based.

The only thing I will say for the game is it had some great maps. Unfortunately great maps are pointless when your gameplay is awful.

To put it simply there was nothing in the game that constituted playing it over Halo 2. When I’m constantly saying “If this was Halo 2 that -Yoink- wouldn’t have happened” or “WHAT that was so a headshot”. In Halo 2 whenever I died (excluding modding and standbying) I didn’t question it I knew the guy pwned me. In Halo 3 I was like “WHAT HOW DID THAT EVEN HAPPEN! THIS GAME IS SO BROKEN!” None of the weapons functioned right.

In halo 2 every wepon felt like it functioned exactly how it should. Every weapon and game mechanic felt perfect. In 3 it was the opposite all the skill weapons like BR/Snipe get weakend while they boost up the ease of use and effectivness for noob weapons.

Unfortunately, too many alleged Halo fans forget how broken H2 and H3 were at the beginning…

  • Obscene bullet magnetism
  • Poorly balanced weapon sandbox
  • Vehicles are weak as paper
  • Spawning with plasma pistols and plasma grenades further the uselessness of vehicles
  • Map breaking exploits due to poor collision detection on maps
  • Reduced number of vehicles
  • Custom game options have been drastically reduced
  • Split screen results in poor frame-rate
  • Lack of prioritizing good connection resulting in hosts from foreign countries causing high levels of latency
  • Map voting system resulting in significantly reduced map variety due to players voting for the same map over and over.
  • Join in Progress system allows players booted from matchmaking for betrayals to rejoin via their recent players list
  • Removal of large, empty, forgable maps
  • Removal of firefight limited
  • Removal of invasion
  • Automatic flag pick up
  • Removal of Race
  • Ability to grief via blowing up friendly vehicles. You are able to blow up a - teammates vehicle, however they do not die, so they are unable to boot you.
  • No in-game ranking system
  • Lack of custom game options
  • User Interface reminiscent of a touch screen device
  • Removal of “death X”

Did you know opinions are worth dirt

If anything this sentence is the exact opposite from the truth. BR/Snipe weren’t weakened, they were just made more difficult to use/master. You can thank the poor netcode and hit registration for that though. Halo 2’s BR/Snipe were easier to use than 3’s. I could understand why someone would say something like that though.

Also, The field-of-view for HDTVs is what made Halo 3 feel slow. Not the gameplay itself. You can ran the same speed 3 as you did in 2, and the maps were practically the same size.

I too enjoyed Halo 2 more than Halo 3, but I’m not going to say Halo 3 was a bad game. Reach, now THAT was a bad game.

I will give a medal to the one that stop this agues of gamers that are too stuck in nostalgic Halo times

I can see why you would like Halo 2 over Halo 3. Now that you mention it the weapons did feel odd with how shots registered, and the Energy Sword feels so slow even in this game.

I don’t understand how you could consider Halo 4 to be any better though.

This guy hated Reach after 2 games? Lol… 4 is Reach with some Call of Duty.

Never have I ever heard anyone dislike Halo3. It’s considered the pinnacle of the entire franchise. Pretty much makes all your opinions sound absurd.

Everything you said either doesn’t constitute a bad game or is an opinion not a fact.
>
> I like JIP. I was excited for the Team Throwdown playlist but stopped playing it only because of no JIP. EVERY MATCH my team would quit till it was me and one other guy and they would team up on us and many times I ended up being the last person who didn’t quit.

Halo 3 is anything but it was the start of the downfall not the pinnacle that was easily 2.

Also I played more than 2 games of Reach. I also played Pre and Post Bloom.
