So I see they mixed BR starts in with the TS playlists, which I don’t mind. BR matches have a different flow to them, and it’s nice to mix things up a bit. However in the last two days out of 20-30 matches, I’ve probably only seen AR starts once or twice. That’s a problem.
AR matches have a good balance with the AR/pistol loadout and imo offers a much more varied gameplay experience. BR creates a very specific gameplay style and doesn’t really open the other elements of Halo to the match. I’ve always appreciated that balance with ARs but man every f#$%ing godd#$% game is BR starts! That’s why I generally don’t play ranked is because it was BR exclusive. Non-ranked offered the gameplay I wanted, but now it just seems to cater to the MLG wannabe crowd.
Now I’m not saying get rid of the game modes, but tone it down a little! I’d be perfectly fine with a 50/50 split, but what’s currently running is nothing short of obnoxious.

Too bad they wouldn’t/couldn’t keep a tally of what you last played. Like you last played BR starts, give them AR starts. I always wanted that for maps…like instead of playing the same map 4 times in a row, remove the last map I played from the selection - but that would make matchmaking take longer. I think we played breaker in BTB 5 matches in a row last night…haha.
Yeah I just don’t want BRs in the team slayer playlist. Put it in a separate one if you want but there was already a ranked playlist exclusively for BR starts

I never liked BR starts because it took away most strategy from Halo.
Why use any other gun when a BR works for everything?
Why try to flank or place yourself when you can find a hill that has vantage points on all the enemies?
Why do anything when every encounter just turns into who shot first?
Like, I’m not horrible at the game, but I’m not the best either, but BR starts is just boring for me. It doesn’t feel like there is any skill to it with my matches, just “oh I see someone, burst burst burst burst, dead move on” repeat. I don’t have fun when everyone is using the same gun the same way doing the same thing. I didn’t like it in 3, the DMR did not help in Reach, Halo 4 had variety but devolved again. At least Halo 5 tried to change it up with the movement.
At the start BR starts was meant to be ranked exclusive. You want AR stick to social, you want boring BR matches, stick to ranked. Yet here we are again.

I wish the playlists started with BR/AR though, would be so much more fun.

It really just sounds like you want to play a different game
Would I like to see tweaks to eb BR?..sure, go back to it being a projectile based weapon would be a great start

I’m the opposite, I feel like with the servers being worse since season 2 launch the AR is extremely inconsistent so I’ve stopped using it completely
Actually, ar starts take no skill. Its just spray and pray. Br is all about accuracy and positioning.

the br gets outclassed by every closer range weapon. The br doesnt do everything. The problem is, we dont have a secondary weapon to counter it. You didnt like the br in halo 3 because the ar wasnt very good unlless you melee combo’d with it. halo 3 settings was still good otherwise people wouldnt love halo 3 , it just needed refining.
Instead 343 split them up. Now we have boring ar/pistol starts that both do the general same thing and br only starts. All that does is further dilute and even unbalances the gameplay.

Playwrsz like me, enjoy br starts since it feels we can fight back always. Sorry you can’t understand that. Balance isn’t good when the only real balance is range differences.
what if I told you that the skill is in this game is not about shooting, it’s about positioning, controlling the map, controlling power weapons, making tactical decisions, movement control in firefights? compare that with the dumb right analog + RT spam with BRs. ever thought about that? BRs dumb halo down to cod videogames.

you can always fight back even with AR starts. maybe you are not aware but there are tons of BRs/commandos around your spawn in weapon racks, generally enough to equip half your team. but you know what? nobody ever picks them up. people like you are basically asking a change to the whole weapon sandbox balance in the game because they cant bother make a 5 seconds detour to pick up weapons on the map. it was like that in halo 2 and 3 and its a shame the developers have to change the game because of this.

It’s like they heard SWAT players say they wanted BR starts so they added it to Team Slayer.
There is no ranked slayer. If you say “ranked already has BR starts” I want to remind you that quickplay already has AR+pistol starts.
this might actually be one of the worst takes I’ve ever seen on this website.
The AR in this game is insanely strong. It’s TTK is well under the BRs optimal TTK, and it takes little mechanical skill to be effective with. It also has an extremely forgiving range that completely invalidates positioning as it can completely delete other players using other weapons at multiple ranges. The AR completely disincentivizes using other weapons because it’s margin of error is damn near nonexistant, especially when paired with the sidekick. While other guns punish you for missing sorely, the AR holds your hand the entire time through missed shots and still nets you a kill.
1v1ing with half the guns in the sandbox that aren’t power weapons is almost always a losing battle if you have desync or miss a single shot because using the starting weapon will in most cases outclass it. Miss a mangler shot? AR wins, you literally can’t even BR 4 shot an AR user before they kill you because it’s TTK is literally lower than the BR optimal. Even if you’re the most precise player in the game, the AR will kill you. Because the sandbox is balanced this way, it incentivizes people standing still within the ideal range of their weapon, whatever that is, and avoiding CQC because entering any close quarters on AR starts is immediately a death sentence.
Seriously, play BRs and notice how the sandbox can actually breathe. Every weapon dual actually has a “halo dance” to it instead of nimrods running at eachother holding RT with ARs and seeing which melee the server connection favors. Mangler Vs BR, Heatwave vs BR, they all have some actual strategy and stakes in the dual over just holding RT and winning. The game’s sandbox needs work. It should favor precise aim. If I have more mechanical skill than someone with an automatic and I score the 4shot, I shouldn’t be dying first.
Half the guns in this game have a lower TTK than the BR but everyone in this thread is acting like it’s constant 4shots in every br mode even though the game’s netcode is so poor that 4 shots are rare as is.

That’s a fair challenge, and true. I also think a ranked team slayer playlist needs added. That way it can be kept in ranked but removed from social.
I like both variants of the gameplay, but I want to able to choose which one I play. I find AR starts are a lot more varied, but a bit more random.

Might lose players if they don’t get what they want. So as long as it fills up those slots quickly.
