Im still not sure about halo 4

When I first saw the halo 4 trailer, I was kinda sad. My first thought was “Oh god, their milking the series”. After seeing the concept art trailer at halo fest I started to think it might not be so bad. What makes me nervous is some people on the forums always crying about how they want it to be like halo 2. Halo 2 was amazing, the best in the series (in my opinion) followed closley by Reach and Three. Do you know why? Cause they where different! (Well halo 3 was pretty much the same, but thats not the point) I think that the real thing people are angry about is armor lock. Armor lock shouldnt be totally removed Shivers at the thought of ghost ramming in halo 2 and three it should be like the invincibility powerup in halo 3, only in campaign.

I would like some new elements to halo 4, but keep some old ones. Maybe a type of jetpack some other AAs, and equipment. I love AAs but god I love the bubble shield screw all you haters on slow gameplay, shame on you wags finger angrily I propose we have a little bit of both, and then some new stuff.

So long as AA’s don’t make it in, I’ll likely be happy with it.

I mean Its a game and I guess it would still be playable without AAs but why does everyone hate them? Give me a valid reason and I may decide I agree. But for now I continue to play reach and find no problems.

Honestly I’ll be happy whatever they do provided that it’s nothing like Reach.

Thank you, thank you. I know I am awesome there is really no need.

eye roll

Still be playable? Of course it would be. The previous halo games were fine and playable without them. There’s no need for doubt.

Now, as far as my reasons, I truly don’t feel like going in depth about each and every AA and why they are awful, so I’ll go with a general statement. Halo is a game based on skill, you know, the whole the better man leaves thing. To accomplish this, every person starts off on the same foot despite armor and skill. Everything else above that must be acquired. With Reach, adding in things like bloom on precision weapons and AA’s help deteriorate these ideas (more skilled person winning and starting off on the same foot). Some are utterly useless, and others act as a total crutch to break game mechanics in an attempt to get the lesser skilled player a bit more up there with the skilled players. Take the abomination that is AL for example. Things that were sure kills before like shooting a rocket at someone’s feet or sticking them are negated with AL. It’s a press a button to cheat death ability. Splattering and melee combat are also broken down because of AL. It’s a random annoyance (considering you don’t know someone has AL unless you find a way to observe the AA on their back without them noticing you, or seeing them use it)

You sir have not given a valid reason for disliking armor abilites Pulls out bull whip looks like its time for a little tap dance!

In all seriousness puts away whip Could you explain why you don’t like AA’s. I can understand armor lock and even a little bit of jetpack. But what about hologram, sprint, and dropshield. They are awesome ( in my view)

I like sprint as much as the next person math, but it brings too many annoyances with it. I’d rather a simple base movement speed increase. Sorry :frowning:

That makes me a sad panda :’(

I can see where you come from, by the way thats not what I meant when I said it would still be playable. I meant that I could live without AAs in halo 4, but I digress…

Halo 2 and three had great gameplay, but you have to admit. The whole be the first one to start shooting and you win thing got old after a while. Equipment was a step in the right direction, AAs may have been a step too far. Drop shield, camo, hologram, sprint, and evade are all fine. AA needs to be tuned down, and jetpack is a little overpowered in close combat. Otherwise I have know idea why people hate AAs!

The actual abilities are fine. Make them one use with no recharge and bring back old H3 equipment alongside them and I’d have no problem.

I never understood the argument of “first to shoot wins”. That never once happened to me in Halo 3, especially because of strafing being effective and such. You had to be a good shot as well as a good strafer to win, and if you were, you could change the tide of the engagement over someone who was horrible at it. The only time I could think of that such a thing would come into effect is with AR rushing, but it’s not like that’s not existant in Reach. With Reach, it’s more like shoot first to win than anything because strafing is less effective because of hitscan.

Drop shield is a little annoying since it heals as well as protects you, and can be constantly used. The bubble shield was better as it was one time use and didn’t heal you. Camo is horribly underpowered and promotes camping. It needs to be restored to it’s former glory as a powerup only. Hologram is just useless, but I have found can be used to mess around with melee combat, as you target a hologram over another player, meaning they can pop one out close range as you are about to melee, making your melee have to recharge while they can go ahead and pummel you. Sprint is bad because it allows one to escape an engagement when they are losing to deny someone a kill, as well as getting the first melee in, or using it to get their CQ weapon in a range of effectiveness. Evade is similar, except the fact you can cover ground so fast, if you aren’t using something higher than a 3 sensitivity you could have a hard time turning around in time to kill them before they kill you. Jetpack isn’t at all overpowered in close combat. The problem lies in the breaking of maps and map control, as well as negating the use of grenades to kill an opponent.

That’s why I hate AA’s.

Don’t worry, be happy.

I’m guessing we’ll see some new gameplay mechanics. As for the story, I can’t wait to explore a new mysterious world!
