i’m sick of the holes in the forge objects, i have this space ship map, it’s aesthetic, i made it for fun, but every time i come back to it i see a gap leading into outer space due to the horrible forge pallet i am sick and tired of finding gaps leading into outer space, i think i’d rather go back to reach’s forge, at least that has precision editing. has anyone else had this problem?
certain affinity were too busy making the objects look pretty than making them fit together without any gaps in between.
I just wish we could control the lighting. It makes indoor maps awkward. Other than that I’m fine with forge.
Yeah, it is pretty frustrating having all these misaligned textures and holes in the pieces. It’s especially bad on the Platform Large. It has sloped edges, but they are smooth to walk on. Because there is no precision editing, it is nearly impossible to make it actually line up with the other objects both aesthetically and functionally.

You think they look pretty? They’re White, everything is White. White is not pretty, combined with the forced generated lighting it’s way uglier than Reach’s Grey palette.

I gotta agree with Assassin, early on when they showed a gamespot video pre-release I was concerned with how “junky” the pieces looked. Kinda reminds me a little of Star Wars, but at least it fit with their theme. Just doesn’t feel like a Halo-esque texture type.
One more thing, if you completely enclose an area it looks like someone tried to burn the place down, the lighting system is rather clunky too.
Precision editing? you mean the “edit coordinates” option? its still there. press “b” when you are holding an object, and make sure magnets are off, and there you go, precision editing, and it works, how do i know? my ODC father uses it to make his maps “perfect” and i having minor OCD myself use it to a certain degree.
and indoor maps aren’t so bad, you can make a sort of artificial lighting using the proper pieces as well. (don’t remember the exact ones) it doesn’t create shadows like the outdoor lighting does, but it at least makes the map seem brighter.
